I've been drinking this new Pepsi Twist, and it had me thinking about the old Crystal Pepsi.

I remember that stuff. They had "Right Now" by Van Hagar (ever seen Joe Dirt?) as the jingle for that drink, and it was actually a pretty good beverage.

"And I'm not really Halle Berry... I'm Barry Bostwick!"

Van Hagar? I thought the song was sung by Van Halen...?

And yeah...that drink WAS good...Makes me thirsty just thinking about it.

They should never have taken it off the market! It was tasty...just Pepsi without the artificial color. I can't believe that Pepsi had to draw the conclusion that consumers on the whole would rather have brown coloring put in their drink...I guess the numbers don't lie, but that's pretty sad.

The "Van Hagar" is from Joe Dirt. It's in reference to the point when Sammy Hagar was the lead vocalist. Some folks--apparently including Joe Dirt--refused to acknowledge the band as true VH. A similar phenomenon may be seen today with Guns & Roses. Only two of the original band members remain--Axl Rose and Dizzy Reed. It's just not the same without Slash, imho.

I really liked Crystal Pepsi as well. It tasted like Pepsi, but did not have that "heavy" feeling associated with colas.

Moving this Thread to Unrelated Topics, it is too sane to leave here in the Romper Room.

Crystal Pepsi rocked.

But alas it is gone. Oh well, normal one is good enough for me!

Peace

Incidently this whole Pepsi Twist thing is not a new idea...they had a Pepsi w/ Lemon back in the seventies.

Everything old is new again.

It was called Pepsi light for those of you interested in doing a google search to find out more...it was discontinued in 74.

I thought Pepsi Light was the name they gave Diet Pepsi in Europe... my brother actually had a 1.5 liter bottle of "Coca-cola Light" (Diet Coke) from Spain in his room. Apparently, "Diet" isn't as much of a selling point over there... then again, not as many people over there (at least number-wise) are overweight as are in the States.

Oh not only do I remember Crystal Pepsi, but I also remember the great Saturday Night Live skit that lampooned it. The legendary Crystal Gravy skit, I still laugh every time I think of it

I remember that old Crystal Pepsi. It was pretty good, but I like the new P-Twist better. Coke still owns you though. For FREE!

Ah yes! I remember buying a 2-liter bottle of Crystal Clear Pepsi back in January '93. It tasted pretty good (made all the better by the fact that I had it while watching the Superbowl). A few years later (around the summer of either '96 or '97), I saw Crystal Clear Pepsi take on a "new" "citrus" flavor. Somehow, I had forgotten all about it after '94, but I knew right then and there, that Crystal Clear Pepsi's future was looking very murky. I never saw it again after that. One day, though, I have a feeling that Pepsi'll bring it back.

Yes! Crystal Pepsi was awesome.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't crystal pepsi caffenine free?

I wish I would've kept an empty can of CP.

Which reminds me..

Anybody remember OK soda.
That stuff was nasty.. Like a "suicide"

The art on the cans were cool .. Reminded me of propaganda art or something I've seen on telephone poles in London.. Or a KMFDM album cover.. Disturbing in my favorite way..

If you take crystal pepsi and you mix it with some pepsi max, you obtain an green liquid which served for many horror movies.

I vaguely remember everyone making a big deal about that... I had one once, to see what it was like, and it tasted just like Pepsi. Since I don't like Pepsi normally, no big deal for me.
Although you know, Coke came out with the Diet Lemon Twist thing first... Pepsi just has better marketing.
