I only got this game about a week ago and i received it with Super Monkey Ball 2, Beach Spikers + Turok

But i have only had a token play with the other 3 games and personally before i received them i was more looking forward to SMB2

Now dont get me wrong Beach Spikers is a great game (now if AM2 could do a 3-d Windjammers game like that it would be incredible - come on sega buy up that licence), SMB2 is also brilliant and Turok is quite incredible

but............

I just cant seem to put down Mario - now have 50 stars and i can wait until i get my next star

The game is a stroke of genius - all the levels are incredible and have been structured very well the graphics are absolutely amazing

But i may have to buy a back up since my Scottish-ness (temper) is starting to show its-self and i am losing it big time by throwing my controller around the room

Basically i reckon that this game has impacted me more than Super Mario 64

Who else feels that this game is great or even let me know if you think is a steaming pile of dog-poo

Also who has all 130ish stars???

Btw my good friend Chimpmeister - before you comment on how poor the entire package is please play it first before flaming :D

It's pretty fun and challenging. I've never really liked 3D platformers, but I liked SMS a lot. Some of those FLUDD-less levels got pretty frustrating, but a good challenge is good every few levels or so. I beat the game on Sunday with 77 Shines, I'll probably get the rest some other time.

Yeah thats true

When you go to the funfair place and you have to replace the yoshi missing from the merry go round, doing that was easy but the fludd-less level afterwards was an absolute nightmare

fecking dissolving blocks

I just started playing the game, again. I'm only on the scene 5 in Bianco Hills (or whatever it's called). This game is VERY entertaining, but VERY hard.

This game is indeed awesome and certainly justifies my Gamecube purchase. Too bad this game didn't launch with the system, instead of the steaming shit that is Luigi's Mansion (survival horror = shit). I too purchased SMB2 along with Sunshine, but I've been so busy playing Sunshine that I've hardly touched any of my other games at the moment. Chalk this one up as another design "win" for the master Miyamoto.

108 shines and mad as hell. The game's great and gameplay too. However it's starting to be frustrating as hell. My g/f threw a controller out of rage, I scream at the game a couple of times. Great but definitely frustrating not that I never curses at Mario 64 or Super Mario World ;)

120 shines, but disappointed at no secrets unlocked by doing so. C'Mon, Gimme Luigi on the roof or something!

Well i'm now up to 59 shines and the level i have next is against the giant eel with bad teeth

So far 5 lives lost - probably many more will go, this level is rock hard

Knowing my luck there is probably a simple solution

This is a very fun game, when I first got it I couldn't put it down. Only reason I stopped playing it is because my idiot brother took my memory card and left it at a friends house.

Am I the only one who's disappointed in this game? I've gotten 60 shines and I've basically stopped playing because of the frustrating nature of the game. I've nearly broken 2 controllers AND my Gamecube because of this game. Frankly the camera SUCKS (worse than Mario 64 IMO) and I die usually because the camera moves (or doesn't move) and I can't see jack shit. There's no plotline, the FMV/voice acting in it is a joke and there's no direction to the game other than a "Treasure hunt." Considering how much I love Miyamoto's games (particularly Mario and Zelda) this is a real shock that the game is this bad. I even posted in another place on these forums that I though Super Mario 3 was the best NES game ever.

Do I think it's a bad game overall? No. However aside from the graphics this is a step down in every way from Mario 64. I'm looking forward to Sly Cooper & Ratchet and Clank in the hopes that they will both be a more enjoyable experience... :(

Sly and R&C dont hold a candle to this game. If you're waiting for them too...bring a snickers bar.

I agree with you. I like the game but something is just off about it and it just doesn't feel like a Mario game to me.

But I am not the biggest fan of this gender anyway. I like my platform games 2D. No camera problems with those.

I am with you guys too. I played it for a week and never really got into it. I would much rather play Mario 64. Sunshine doesnt have the OG Mario feel to me.

:(

There's just something about this game.

Okay, I started playing it and thought... Hmm... Okay, the camera's frustrating...

And then, after not playing it past the first few times, I started exploring and ironed out the play mechanics. I slowly realized that pretty much everything in the world is accessible (except for the lands beyound the invisible walls. :)

Well, the game grew on me. It's not extremely hard either, it's just hard enough to present a challenge and taunt you. I'm at 25 sprites.

Mario Sunshine is a good game. It good to see Nintendo keeping it different from all the other; but for some reason, I really not getting the feeling of it, as much as other Mario's, but I only rented it so I wouldnt know much. Probably the reason I'm not getting a quik adjustment is because, I'v benn playing Super Mario Bros this weak and beat it two times.

FYI there is a room under the bridge near to the cannon that take you to the funfair

A huge level in the shape of a pinball machine

only lost around 12 lives before i managed to get the star

87 shines now and i have the access to the last level - the giant eel level was quite incredible imo :D :D
