Golden Sun any good?

I've been hearing some good things about it, and I've been thinking about getting it.

But generally speaking, I dislike/hate video game RPGs (Final Fantasy, etc.). Isn't Golden Sun just pretty much a throwback to Final Fantasy 4 (or Final Fantasy 2 for the US SNES)?

Thoughts?

Even if it is a good game (and the reviews say that it is), I can't imagine spending a lengthy amount of time playing an RPG on the GBA's non-backlit, eye-straining screen.
