Yeah it seems I've heard a lot of good stuff about NFS:HP2. However, you should advise people to skip the XBox and GC versions, as the PS2 one is by far the best. Clearly EA bungled the ports, rushed them out and ended up with one great version (PS2) and two much worse ones (XB and GC). Gamespot rated NFS:HP2 for PS2 an 8.5, and rated the other two at 7.2 each. BIG disappointment, thanks EA for f'ing up once again and screwing us over!!

Now that I have a PS2 that's the version I'll get. And as SNK4EVER mentioned, Burnout 2 is also an EXCELLENT game (that one I DO have), worth picking up as well! Great luck that recently we've gotten TWO fantastic arcade-style racing games released at the same time, BOTH worth getting . . . :) :) :)

Burnout 2 comes first, then I'll buy NFS:HP2 afterwards.

Or timesplitters 2.

Or Hitman 2.

oohhh, decisions, decisions.

NFS: HP2 is definitely a great game. The only problem I have with it is that the graphics definitely aren't up to snuff with the rest of the gameplay. But the gameplay rocks, so I still consider it a 'must-buy' but only the PS2 version.

How difficult is NFS: HP2 on a scale from 1-10? I just rented Burnout 1 and I couldn't stand the AI in championship mode as they were way to relentless for an arcade racer. If possible, could you rate the difficulty for each mode; especially the championship? Thanks guys!

unlike GT3, you will depend on your driving skills not your car's power to win. overall, the game is btween easy and normal. it's really intresting and there are many things to do:
there two main modes:

-racing
-hot pursuit

each have an events tree. finishing certain events will unlock cars or tracks. the event maybe a normal race .or a knock out competation.or a champion ship (I hope you now why I mentioned all this details now) .also while playing ,you can earn points by performing jumps or leading all the laps ......... ets. reaching certain number of points will also unlock cars. there are 49 well chosen cars. you start with 8 cars (not sure of the number . oh and that's include a 911 Turbo :D ) they will tell how to unlock all locked cars by highlighting them in the car select screen (like which event will lock them .or how many points you should earn .......etc.)

also the tracks are wide (sometimes 3 time bigger than GT3) and well designed

the control is the best among all racing games

Thanks for the info man! I've been a fan of arcade racers since Hang-On, but it seems like the last few I've played, especially Burnout 1, are just way to freaking difficult. I just can't stand being passed by every other vehicle on the track with almost no chance of catching up just because of one simple wreck. Luckily though, it sounds like this game just might be the real arcade racer I've been waiting for!

you know, when I first heard about the PS2, a NFS game was on the top wish list of games. it's the only game from the list that came out (the others were not as good as I imagined, and some of them didn't come out). not only it is a NFS game but also it's built on my best part of the series : hot pusuit. I consider it one of the few real next generation games.

if you thanked me now you will love me when you buy this game (you can burn out by pushing the accelerator and the breaks in the same time with manual transmition :D just like the first ......... try it with F50)

I can't stand the Burnout series, it gets really anoying having the game slowdown and go in a different view everytime you hit somthing.

The Burnout games are excellent. They encourage totally crazy, over the top insane reckless driving by filling up the "Burn Meter" with each near-miss, jump, and powerslide you perform. I don't mind the slow-mo wrecks, and the ability to save crashes is a great feature. Control is tight and gameplay is a blast. Pure arcade racing fun, without all the lame simulation stuff bogging it down . . . my favorite type of racing game!! :) :) :)

Now lets hope that Acclaim ports Burnout 2 over to the XBox with enhanced grapics, etc. for a better version. Much that I do like the PS2 version, I'd get an XBox one if that comes out later, for sure!!

The crush part in Burnout 2 is part of the fun.It looks so good and notice how the car gets wrecked.Looks very detailed. The graphics are top notch with a lot going on in the background.I have to say that Burnout 2 beats NFS as far as graphics are concerned.Burnout 2 is so freakishly detailed that its scary!
Not to say that NFS looks bad, far from it.NFS still looks awesome especially the lens flare effects. The trees are are in full 3d and look great.
Burnout 2 focuses a lot on Buildings with skyscrapers whereas NFS focuses on sceneries.Burnout 2 is still the more detailed and the better looking of the two.I have ran Burnout 2 on progressive scan and it really comes to life!

Can anyone seriously relate to me what the actual gameplay is like in NFS:HP2 and Burnout 2?
I'm an ailing Ridge Racer addict, looking for a shot in the arm until Namco whips out RR6.
Powerslides? Anything like that in these two new games? Someone, please let me know....

I am also a fan of ridge racer (I still think rage racer is the best in the series). I would say you won't be wrong with BO2 as long as you like ridge racer."it's a solid game" . but don't except the same power slides and feelings. it's just the nearest to ridge racer, not the same

as for need for speed HC:2,I can't find a reason to dislike it .it has everything: speed ,powerslides ,wide and well designed tracks , great control, nice musics, interesting details, great car collection, excelent graphics and it's a pure arcade racer............... is it perfect? to me ,yes ; it IS perfect

Hmmmm, looking online at the Best Buy ad for today, I don't see NFS:HP2 listed on sale for $39. Where did you hear it was on sale?
