I took the plunge and started buying NES games. My goal right now is to accumulate a large collection of cartridges at cheap prices. This means I have to forego niceties like boxes and manuals. This is decidedly different from my approach to NEO GEO collecting where condition is of utmost importance.

I am having a lot of fun buying and cataloging my games. In case you did not know, there is a rarity list for NES games which makes this type of treasure hunting all the more fun. I find the experience very similar to collecting trading cards. I have gotten lucky and found a few rare titles so far. On the other hand, I have quite a few copies Super Mario/Duck Hunt. <img src="graemlins/spock.gif" border="0" alt="[Spock]" />

So far, I am liking this new hobby. Feel free to share your NES collecting stories.

Even though Friday the 13th and Back to the Future were cheesy games, they were still fun back in the day on the NES.

River City Ransom is the best game for NES ever!

Don't forget Mighty Final Fight - It's not 2 players, but it isn't too shabby of a game on the NES.

Dragon Warrior IV should be worth big money.. The PS remake of it was supposed to be translated for the U.S., but due to lackluster sales of DW VII for PS, DW IV was canned.

Wan-Fu I share your enthusiasm of collecting NES games. I find hunting for them at resale shops and flee markets a fun and enjoyable thing to do. I dont know where you got your rarity list but if your interested, i can direct you to a web site with a large array of rarity lists for many systems. I cant let just anyone know where to get the best lists ;) This info is just to precious to me :D PM me

I collect my favorite games from all systems, or games that I think I would enjoy. I ALWAYS look for complete and good condition items, though. Even NES games. I just think it's a lot nicer looking on my shelf with a box, and I like to have the documentation if I'm going to bother to pay the extra cost for the box. I might as well go all the way. Manuals can be fun, and also having everything complete means your item has a chance of rising in value... Wheras a cart only will not rise in value much...

So far I have gotten some really choice games cheap. My favorite with regards to rarity is my complete Tiny Toons Adventures part 2.
