I'm looking for saturn sidescroller beatem'ups, but I don't know any game titles so its hard to search on ebay. Now a couple of weeks ago I was following one which looked allot like Rifal Turf I played on the SNES years ago, but I got lost of the auction and title of the game.

If you know any sidescroller beatem'ups tell me which ones are good, or make a list since I don't think there are that many.

- Hot Blood Family (first generation Saturn game, nothing you haven't seen before but an average 2D beat-m-up)

- Tenchi Wo Kurau II (Warriors of Fate 2) - must own

- Guardian Heroes - needless to say, right? wink

I thought that Hot Blooded Family was a Playstation only title? Is it any good?

Nekketsu Oyako is pretty good as far as 16-bit-esque beat em ups are concerned. Chohan, it's probably the Rival Turf-esque game auction you were talking about.

Don't forget Die Hard Arcade. Also "Purila" or something. It's part of the "Arcade Gears" lineup (there were four total, another one was Wonder 3, see my thread about W3)

Also, "Crows" is another JPN 2D beat em up. This one is extremely rare and expensive. I hear it's average like Nekketsu Oyako is.

After that, you got Batman Forever (ugh...) I think the Saturn could and should have had more beat em ups... especially a Streets of Rage! frown

Cool thx guys, I've owned Dungeons and Dragons but was very disapointed with it and sold it. I'm mainly looking for the Rifal Turf like game (Nekketsu Oyako, go Steve!) altough it isnt the best one of those mentioned I played Rifal Turf to death on SNES, the memories :) . Die hard arcade is a bit like Fighting Force for PSX? I kinda liked that game ;D

I remember Gamefan reviewing the psx version, and saying its not what they wanted from a 32bit game..............but i thought it was like a decent arcade scroller, a little 16 bit, but their is nothing wrong with that wink

Guardian Heroes is great (I got mine for only about $12 ^_^), Id also reccomend Three Dirty Dwarves, though I've only played the demo.

im definately the only one that doesnt love guardian heroes.

plane shifting...WTF?!?!? maybe in fatal fury but forget that.

plus the gfx are kinda shitty, plus too much shit can be going on at once, and in the end youre just buttonmashing and randomly plane shifting because you cant see anything.

gimme sor2 over gh any day.

Guardian Heroes must be the best side scroller beatem'up ever.I'm sure you can get it new for like $20 on ebay.Try Princess Crown.I got this game like a year ago.It has more RPG elements but the fighting is more Guardian Heroes style, but not as over the top.

The sprites are huge, and the bosses are hardcore. Also try Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru / Psychic Killer Taromaru,it's a ninja style 2D side-scrolling action game. But if you find this expect to pay big $$.

I haven't bought a Saturn title in a while and Princess Crown looks kind of tasty. Is it easy to play / enjoyable not knowing how to read Japanese? I would assume it's like JP Guardian Heroes, but the RPG elements make it sound kind of daunting.

Yeah, PuLiRuLa (or do a search for Pu Li Ru La), another bizarre Taito beat 'em up ported by Xing. In terms of visuals this game has some of the most bizarre ever (probably what this game is most well-known for), unfortunately, the gameplay is unbelievably boring (the most basic of attacks available unless there is something I'm missing). The words "could of" and "should of" always seem to come up when I play this one, if they even just blatantly ripped the gameplay from something like SoR or GH... Ahh, oh well, I should pop this one back in, I haven't played it in quite some time.

True it is boring, but playing the jap version once through is enough just to see the sexy 2nd level with the legs and weather vane girl lol
