Y'know- I think Arnold really CAN get elected Governor

I've been hearing veiled referenes in the media- especially when discussing California's current political climate and financial crisis- And I'll be damned if it seems like alot of local commentators don't already think it might happen.

I mean, think about it- the only REAL obstacle are the (probably) very real skeletons lurking in the guys closet.- affairs, steroids and such.

That's really it, because the fact that he's really, really unqualified isn't going to matter when all of our brains fall under his anti-thespian spell.

I mean, I'm an informed, somewhat savvy registered California Democrat, and I know that even now, I'd fucking vote for him. It's the fucking Terminator!

Just the novelty of it alone makes him the best candidate in 25+ years.

The 'State of the State' addresses, the State 'Public Service' commercials, the draconian physical fitness programs he'll force on California's ever increasing obese children! It'll be great.

I don't think an Arnold administration would ever get things done. The media will only receive one liners when Arnie is interviewed. Or wait with baited breath for the next cool one liner to pop out of Teh Terminator.

I don't think he's conservative enough, but that's a whole 'nother ball of wax....

Anyway, I think he could win... I mean, the sex appeal alone - lots of women would vote for him. And, he's a generally cool guy.

+, he knows alot more about politics than alot of people give him credit.

Well, that's actually half the reason he could do it.

See, as I'm sure you know, California is an overwhelmingly democratic state, no non-centrist candidate could EVER get elected- witness the monumental, firestorm failure of Bill Simon in the last election.

Now, normally a centrist candidate might not get past the primaries due to California's asshole conservatives, SO conservaive that they'd rather have a Liberal Democrat in office than a Centrist Republican (Witness Dick Riordan Vs. Grey Davis).

But trust me, Arnold's dopey star-power will make this irrelevant. Conservatives will remember how he campaigned for Bush Sr. way back when. I think when all is said and done, Arnold WILL get the Gubernatorial nom and he will defeat whomever the Dems come up with to oppose him.

It may happen.

Maybe this is the real reason why he was sent back through time.

Some might argue that an administration that never gets things done is preferable to one that tries to change too much and fails miserably. That's the nice thing about gridlock--nothing gets done, so no superfluous laws get passed.*

I rather enjoy that one routine on SNL where Darrell Hammond was playing Ahnult and he talked about his plans to become President--find some fat lady in the Midwest, climb inside her for nine months, and come out with an American flag in both hands. :D

And you have to admit, he'd probably be more articulate than Bush. wink

*I'm not an anarchist, but I think that many, if not most, of the laws out there shouldn't be on the books, for reasons including (but not limited to) the offense in question already being covered in other laws (like "road rage" laws treading ground already covered by traffic laws and gun ownership laws, among others).

Shit, the GOP is all-about dopey star power.
Doesn't GWB ring a bell for you folks?
Oh, wait...he was (NOT) elected because of his tremendous substance and experience.

Right.

Hey, if Ronald Regan was an actor and become president, then so can Arnold. That's my theory, his icon image alone will not effect the chance for office. It seems funny, but do you realize how intelligent Arnold is? He put investments in Wallstreet at age 19!

Really? I did not know that.

Doesn't surprise me, though; I've heard of pro wrestlers being CPA's.
