You think of a game you used to have, and all of the sudden you realize... "I need that fucking game NOW!"

This has happened to me, and thankfully the game is easy to come by.

Not really.

With the exception of my Atari 2600 games, I've never sold/traded in any games.

Unless it's a really wack, then chances are I wouldn't want to play it again anyway.

I've been getting like that recently after seeing some of the inexpensive used SNES / Genesis games and systems for sale at Gamestop.

I browse through all those great loose carts and remember when I used to own that one and how long it took me to finish this game and how much this particular game frustrated me and so on!

I'm tempted to buy a used Genesis and some games for $50, but I don't really want to start accumulating carts for yet another system.

Being a rabid gamer (or a moron once you read what I did) I used to trade off my old games for new ones since I didn't have the funds to keep buying newer games. Needless to say I have deep regrets about pretty much every game I sold or traded off, but I had to have my fix.

So now that I do have the money I find myself buying many old games that I missed. Now I am on a SNES and Genesis spree, going to buy them in lots :D

The only time I've traded games in is if I've purchased a better version of the game (i.e. I sold DOA2 for DC because I got DOA2:Hardcore for PS2).

Sure, but it is usually fleeting. I don't think I will be buying many more. I was looking for Sega CD Batman Returns for a long time, and lots of other Genesis games I missed... I bought them and played them for like a week, now they are collecting dust again. Really doesn't make much sense if you aren't going to play them a lot, they are just memories of a time passed, and sometimes it is better to just not worry about it :)
