I have to send someone $975 outside the USA. What is the safest method of sending cash, besides PayPal?

Just checked, WU fees are worst than PayPal. <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[Crying]" />

Any other suggestions?

Jeff,

Go to your bank and try and do a telegraphic transfer

For me its free because my wife works in a bank but other banks do it for free

But even if they charge you it will be less than western union

Liquid is right - i sent raynald (ray_7) some money for virtua striker 3 a while ago and western union charged me £12 for a £30 transfer

Robbing bastards

Bank wire transfers can be worse than WU. They average from $20-$40 per transfer, depending on the bank. I bet Western Union is less than that . . .

Why not just get an international postal money order and send it like that? I always do that if I can't use Pay Pal. Never had a problem with anything doing it. Or are you not interested in sending money that way?

Don't use Western Union online. Not only is it more expensive for you, it's a pain in the ass for the recipient, who may not even be able to get the cash. Go to a drug store or grocery store and do it there. It's shit easy, and the fees aren't that bad. But that's mainly for deals around $500 - after $500, bank transfers may be cheaper.

If you are sending a large sum of money I would say to do a bank transfer. This is the safest way, but there's a lot of paperwork, and of course you'd have to deal with operating when your bank does, which, in the US, is hardly ever (banks here don't really work normal schedules like other "respectable" businesses).

If you're going to send cash through the mail, use a certificed mail service, and keep it VERY concealed (So you can't see it through the envelope in sunlight).

I would not reccomend sending more than $100 in cash through the mail.

I would go with a money order. It's really safe and you just have to ship it via registered mail. The thing is that you can track a money order and see if the person or company you send it to got it. If it's lost, the post office will pay for the lost. I always used money orders. I was scammed once though but that's because I was just too lazy to complain (ask for the tracking form, filled it, find out the guy had received my money but never had my stuff, non Neo related so it's not someone from here, don't worry :D ).

Wire transfer, personally, I don't like them because you have to hand out your bank account number over the net to a perfect stranger.

Cash is great but under 100$ ;) .

Best is still a credit card with a reliable company. If not, go for the M/O with registered mail, cost a little more but for that amount, it's worth the price!

To Garou_d: Travellers checks do work but you have to sign them before shipping.

Well if you want it to be safe then you have got to be prepared to pay the fees right?

I say go with WU man, it's the safest, altho the most expensive...
