The same software this site uses to run its boards. Is anyone familiar with it? is it worth the money for someone who doesnt want to construct the board himself?

how easy is it to set up?

I'd REALLY really <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> REALLY appreciate some feedback!

thanks everyone,

Ironicly, there are a number of "Free" BBS systems, that have the same features UBB has, and more, standard, and their free.

Things UBB lacks, such as standard avatars, standard star ranks, who's online and memberlist, all standard. UBB has none of these standard, you have to install mods.

Also IMO PHP based boards are better than CGI, one example of a free board is phpBB, totally free, more features than UBB, just as good or even better than UBB performance wise (php is faster than CGI).

UBB seems to be getting to be the AOL of BBS systems. VBulliten is better, and costs a bit less, if your looking for a pay board.

I use UBB on my board, and I like it.

There's a lot of people out there making modifications for the board, most notably the UBBDev.com community. Infopop staff does listen to what users want (they'll be adding avatar functionality and Who's Online). There's a PHP accelerator included with newer versions (6.1.0 onward) which you can turn on or off, as well.
