Unveiled as the "Segway Human Transporter"
a new one-person, battery-powered, easy to use, self-righting scooter that was unveiled today.

"The device, which travels at a top speed of 12 miles per hour, uses gyroscopes to keep it upright. Speed and direction are controlled by the rider's shifting weight. "

Think it'll catch on?

Hell, anything that keeps me from walking is a good thing, as Jigen said above: how much?

Too be honest I wouldn't trust those gyros for 5cents worth of crap...

I wouldn't be caught dead on one, but that's just me I guess. Looks like all that hype about "IT" was really just that... hype.

I have been waiting a year to hear about this Ginger/it thing. Pretty much how I imagined it. How long will the battery power it for?

They say this thing will revolutionize transportation around city areas.

Screw that! If it's going to be city areas I'd rather be caught in a supercharged MiniCooper

Heh, IT looks like something "Comic Book Guy" from the Simpsons would use to avoid even the most casual of physical exertion.

Forget the price, I want to know if that bitch come in Pink?

I think its goofy as fuck. Its probably over $1,000, but I can see it even being more. I wont get one, but I'll have a fun time knocking people off of theirs.

Sticker price of $3000

Battery lasts for 6 hours

It works pretty well, I actually saw this inventor's workshop when I was in Manchester, NH (we did a political rally outside the building and needed their roof) -at that time the cool thing was their stair-climbing/standing wheelchair! (that was a trip)

That thing would make it super easy for me to go places. I'd buy one and an extra bettery.

I think IT is cool, and hopefully will be part of our solution to our extremely fucked up urban traffic congestion.

But knowing us Americans, we won't buy 'em because they don't look 'cool' enough.

Way to go guys!

Three grand is a bit much for it. It is nice that the IT does right itself. However, this thing has got to come down in price sooner or later. Until then it'll be a niche thing perhaps.

ah man, i saw that one, that was sick!
But i think people are getting lazier and lazier.
I know its good for people that need it
and stuff.
But i saw video of it and its acually very ballenced.
One of the news reporter people was on one, and she fell off, it was funny.

I think you'll start to see them in cities once they get mass released in a year or so. I'm also sure the first "IT"-jacking will make news
