I just got Animal Crossing today - to those that have it, you know how cool it is. To everyone else: get this game!

Here's what I have for trade:

Pears
NES Pinball
NES Donkey Kong JR math
Shovels
Bug Nets

Edit: Can't trade patterns

I've been following the game pretty steadily but I could be wrong.

I don't think you can send patterns you've made.

If you can that'll be freaking amazing.

I should have mine by the end of the week and I'll be swapin' with ya.

You've been playing the Blockbuster copy, no? This is why. I had it for a whole week, and same here. The reason he's got two is because they're special on the mem card... they're already there. It's like a house warming gift. You still get NES games, but not right away. Don't worry, you can do the PW trade and get it still. ;)

Mine was the first game created on this memory card, and the memory card was the one that came with the game (Animal Crossing sticker on it). maybe that has something to do with it :(
They came as mail from "Nintendo" and didn't show up in my mailbox until I saved, quit and restarted.

Blaine - You're right, I can't make a "t-shirt" item with my patterns.
Be sure to get the E reader too - it's awesome. I didn't see any Animal Crossing cards for sale at EB but they're supposed to have them soon. All they had was NES games for it.

Yeah, I've heard that it is specific to the Memory Card, but it could also be that the Blockbuster ones are 'different'. At any rate you get one as a housewarming gift, if you create another character and occupy the house your original one should get another one, you should get two on your birthday from Yamaguchi (former pres. of Nintendo) and one on Christmas.

I think that's right.

Question: Do you need a Gameboy Advance to play the NES games or can you play them on the GC?

Yes!

A less smart ass answer is you can do both.

If you go to Tom Nook, you can send an item to someone. He'll ask for their name and town name, then give you a two line password to send to that person. You lose the item afterward, but can buy almost everything from the catalog anyway.

nah yo

you just get a password that only you can use (because it uses your town name and your name) and then you just put it in.

its really quite effective IMO

dude, get a gamecube. animal crossing 0wnZ m3 f4r phr33.

too bad i still need to get a gba, a link, a erader to get the max out of animal crossing

Whether or not this is EXACTLY what it is is irrelevant as it probably works this way.

Let's say you want to send me an apple.

Within the Animal Crossing game an apple probably has an inventory number of we'll say 00020.

What you do is go to Tom Nook, the General Store owner and say you want to send something to your buddy Blaine who lives in Tesseract (Blaine is my character's name on my game and Tesseract is the name of my town, you have to know both these things first).

He'll say 'okay' and then give you a password something like a3290aelrwru.

What happened was inside the game it did a form of cryptography, only not trying to protect anything.

It probably takes the item number, the reciepient name (as a set of numerals) and the town (also as a set of numerals) and performs a mathematical function on it, we'll just pretend it's multiplication.

When I go to my Tom Nook and give him that password it does the same process only with just my name and town as the two keys (cryptography consists of two keys and a message, normally you'd have a key and I'd have a key, but using both would just make it super fast), he'll try to 'decrypt' the password and if he get's a vaild number, the passcode probably has a check sum, he'll know the package is indeed for me and will know what item in the game to unlock and drop in my inventory.

Again, is this EXACTLY what is happening? No but I promise it's something similar.

This way you can 'send' me things very easily and it helps chop down on cheating because unless someone else was named Blaine and also lived in Tesseract, no one else could use that passcode to unlock an apple.

Pretty neat stuff if you ask me.

I got a little confused about what exactly this game was. They were comparing it to the Sims but it just doesnt sound the same.
