First, is there a place actually selling this disc? I don't have (or want) a cd burner.

Second, isn't it said that the Utopia disc (as with others discs that do what it does) make the cd even LOUDER in terms of cd loading noise? Or does it sound the same as everything else?

Where do I get this beloved disc??!

Um, are you referring to the Utopia boot disc for DC?

If so: Forget it. This is a pure "underground" item, released by a pirate group called Utopia, and AFAIK you can only get it via download.

The Utopia boot disc boots pirated copies of DC games (which come on standard CD ROMs, not GD ROMs like the original stuff), and some of the (legal) emulators or mp3 players.

And about the "loading noise" thing, this is an effect caused by the different specs of a standard CD reader and a GD ROM drive.

A normal CD reader will read-in the data off the disc from the inside to the outside, but vice versa with a GD ROM (from the outside inwards). That's why you will hear some mechanical noise out of your DC while booting a CD ROM, because the stepper motor needs to re-position the laser head multiple times in order to find the first occurence of data on the CD (unlike a GD, where the system can start loading immediately.).

Please don't support DC piracy...

Nonono.. You misunderstand me. I just want a way to play import DC games (namely vampire chronicle) without having to get a chip. I understand that non-Japanese Dreamcast systems don't last as long as Japanese ones - and that's what I got from buying at Toys R Us. So I'd rather have a "portable" way of playing import games rather than chipping and leaving perfectly good chips in a dead system.

Ah, okay.

The Utopia boot disc does *not* boot legal imports!

For this you will have to buy a standard DCX import boot disc, which can be had for about $5 - $15 at various import stores.

I once bought a DCX to boot imports, but I got tired of all that disc swapping, so I mod'ded my DC with a boot chip, it's much more convenient if you happen to have a Euro DC and play lots of imports.

I could give you my DCX if you want to.

the utopia bootdisc does load imports.

So does the DCX disc, the Gameshark, and the Imploder. Most Game stores (EB, Gamestop, funco) carry at least one of these.

yes, I would be interested in your DCX. But I find "all the swapping" curious. I am under the impression that you just load the disc, then take it out and then put in your game? If so, that's not too bad. How do I get a hold of you?

What version do you have?

My copy of the Utopia disc does not boot my imports of MotW, CvS2 and Sega GT!

I tried to send mail/PM you, but you seem to have locked both.

Send mail to bolo@lupa.de , or post a mail address where I can write to.

Umm, the Utopia disc boots everything. CDR's and Imports.

You want a copy? Got a CD burner and a broadband internet connection? Email me and I'll rip it and send it to you (CloneCD format).

Peace

Takumaji think about the name of the disc, the Utopia "boot" disc. If it can boot a CDR, it can boot ANY disc, all it does is override the DC's country check, therefor letting you boot any disc on the DC, Legal games and Illegal boots.

Some games do not work with ANY bootloader though, I know all the DC games that run under Windows CE will not load, every DC game I own works with it though (besides the windows CE ones like rally 2 and wild metal), US and Jap.

Guys, sorry, but my V0.69 Utopia boot disc does *not* boot any of my imports, including MotW, CvS2 and SF third. I didn't update it, I got it from a friend of mine for a DC mp3 player which could not be loaded with my DCX. I have a Euro pal DC, modded with a boot chip to play imports.

Again, could you tell me the version of your Utopia disc?

I use the Utopia boot disc version 1.1 and it boots everything fine, MOTW and CvsSNK2 included (LEGAL imports, thats all I use it for, imports not CDRs). Benares, PM me and I'll burn and send you a Utopia boot disc v1.1 (using Nero) for only the cost of materials/shipping, $5 should cover it.
