OK,
I am thinking about getting a Super Nova. What I need to know is, well everything. Lets say I picked up a Splatterhouse arcade board, what else would I need to be able to play it? Someone please give me the low down. :D

Provided the board is JAMMA compliant, you won't need anything extra to play it on the SuperNOVA. But if you want to play old, non-jamma boards like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, or Rygar, you'll need a JAMMA adapter board/harness made for each non-JAMMA game you want to play on the NOVA. http://www.videoconnect.com can do this for you, but unless you're interested in truly vintage boards, you probably won't need to bother with JAMMA adapters.

Thanks Dolphin Lord!
What about MVS games? What do I need to play those?

You'll need to wire up a fourth button to whatever controllers you intend to use with the Supergun...OR..get a couple of neo sticks and use the joystick ports that old style 1 slot, 2 slot, 4 slot, and 6 slot have.

So I need to get a 1,2,4, or 6 slot. What do I need to hook the slot up to the Super Nova? Anything you know will help. Thanks.

The SuperNova includes a JAMMA harness, which is all you need to hook up an MVS board. I would stay away from the 4 and 6-slot boards, though, as I've heard that their power requirements are too much for the SuperNova.

The Super Nova Joystick has six buttons.
QUESTION,how are the kick buttons wired for Street Fighter 2 type gameplay??
Anybody know?
You plug the molex connection onto the Street Fighter PCB and then where do you plug the other end?? I've only been the owner of one of the custom mad guns before the nova and a Mas Neo Geo joystick so I have no idea.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou-BB

There is a separate 'kick harness' running from the SuperNova that connects to CPSx boards, although I have no such PCBs with which to try it.

Oh,so they have the Harness for CPS games hard wired already to the joy port...
Okay so I'm thinking an easy way to do something like that is to have like single molex connecters for each pinout and plug them on any board in the appropriate postion.
Thanks for the info. ;)

Super Nova has 6 button controllers sold with it. The top 3 buttons are ABC and the D button is the 3rd button from the left in the bottom row. The only reason you would need to wire ANY buttons is if you buy a multi slot board, since you need it to switch through the games. You can also wait for the games to switch automatically as long as you don't insert any "credits".

I have a Super Nova and a 4 Slot board. It works flawlessly (except for the fact the slot 2 is slowly dying on me). The only problem I had with my 4 slot was I need to "jumper" the VSYNC resistor (I think it was a resistor). My TV is really sensitive and all I would get from it is a jumping screen without the "jumper". It was a really easy mod that it seems most people do NOT require.

I've had the Super Nova for 8+ months and love it. The only other thing I recommend is using the S-Video to connect it. The compostie connections really suck hairy ass.

Just my $.02
