Man Starfox Adventure sucks!

I was at EB and played this game for about 20 minutes. Consequently one of the most boring 20 minutes I had. Oh great idea Rare, let's make this game a third person adventure!!! GENIUS!!! (sarcasm)

Although the game looks nice, that's about it's only high point. No they couldn't have made it like the Starfox of SNES or N64, they had to make a where he runs around wit a staff!!!! Oh how fun.

And Gamecube will keep on going downhill with games made the wrong way like the new Metroid. Hey here's and idea, let's turn Castlevania into a first person whipper. Wow what a great idea. (more saracsm)

Oh well Nintendo will go under sadly. Konami woke up and started making games right with thier upcoming title Contra: Shattered Soldiers by making it 3-D rendered, but 2-D gameplay. Oh my!!! a game that's fun and 2-D gameplay.....Oh that will never fly!!! (even more sarcasm)

Starfox isnt bad. THe first hour of the game is BAD. After that the other oh . . . 20ish are great. You have to give this game a little time. I almost gave up on it because it was so bad at first, but now I am glad that I didnt.

That review seems a little harsh. I really think it's a great game. Though it has has alot of Zelda elements (which isn't a bad thing) the only flaw I have really found so far is the level of difficulty. Though I have only played for around 2 hours, the Game seems to be on the easy side. Does the game get harder as you go down the line?

I actually like the 3-d castlevania. It was fun.

I think your mistaken.... what did they do to mario? They turned him 3D... yes, it had awesome gameplay to back up the graphics. Mario Sunshine has already sold more than 1 million copies. The Same Happened with Zelda Ocarina of Time... it went from 2D to 3D.

If you think that metroid prime is going to fail.... by Jan. of next '03 you are going to eat those words.

This game is looking out to be amazing.... and the people who have tested it say that the gameplay is a dream.

Nintendo isn't the #1 company in Japan by a mistake.

Granted.... Starfox Adventures was not the most perfect game, but it was still somewhat cool.... and remember Rare is now gone from Nintendo. And that game was a rare game... a lot of people like it too.

If you want a normal flying Starfox game, Namco is making one and will be out within a couple months.

Nintendo will never go under.... they are just too smart at doing business the right way.

BTW... Nintendo also has a great library of games already. there are 80 more games to hit the cube by year end... and a lot are going to be cool (yes, a lot will be crap too).

While I agree with the point you're trying to make, they were two different games, until SOTN came out. Yeah, Castlevania is the new Metroid, so it would seem Metroid must be something else. I was also disgusted when I heard it wasn't 2D, but now that I've come back down to earth, most games that used to be 2D just aren't going to be anymore. Face it.

If you want good old fashion Metroid, play the Gameboy Advance one that comes out the same day.

I too played it at a local retailer , today actually.

I really didnt see anything thats going to get me to buy it , looks like a waste of 50 bucks at this point.

They only redefined video games as we know them. Not to mention they have perhaps the most innovative, creative game designer ever; Shigeru Miyamoto.

Another great reason to own an Xbox.

Sorry Nintendo, but Celda and Metroid Quake aren't gonna cut it. And games like Mario Sunshine looking like an N64 title aren't helping either.

I wonder how long it will be until Capcom wakes up and brings those RE games to other systems to try and make money back. The RE remake didn't even sell 200K copies in Japan, thats fucking pathetic. Even Code Veronica on DC sold over 400K.

BTW the only reason Nintendo is number 1 in Japan as far as software sales go, is because of Gameboy, it's been that way ever since the SNES, since the N64 and GC aren't selling so hot.

Star Fox also seems to be selling like shit, it hasn't showed up on any top 30 lists here. The GC has no xmas pre-orders in the top 10, it's all Xbox and PS2.

Oh man, that new metriod game on gamecube is so shitty, what was nintendo thinking? i mean, i havent PLAYED the game or anything, but god it sucks so bad. Don't even get me started on "Celda". And fucking mario is the same shit i've been playing for years on n64. Now if you want something that is new you need to pick up final fantasy X, metal gear solid 2, or halo...thats some innovative shit right there...

i cant even believe you played it for 20 minutes before deciding on it...oh well, you give it more of a chance then most people. replys in this thread are for the most part, pathetic...

oh well, i know that halo 2, dead or alive 4, final fantasy 12, and metal gear solid 2 substance are going to be sucking some major ass, so i might as well start bashing them now i suppose, get ahead start on all the other fanboys...

It doesn't matter whether it's the worst pile of crap ever or the best game ever, the fact that you think you can judge a game like this after 20 minutes is sad. This is a game you need to sit down with and play from the start so that you know what you're doing and where you're going.

I totally agree. Plopping a Nintendo character in a 3rd person action game doesn't make it good. Just like in Sonic adventure. It had a cool look, cool idea, but very bad execution. Can anyone remeber the crappy camera that made you fall off into a hole?? What I would do to have good old Sonic back. Anyway, back on subject.

Look, I'm not some fanboy of a certian system or one gaming company. I just like good games. That's why I still play NES. It's why I have a Genesis, a SNES, a Sega Saturn (mostly good imports <img src="graemlins/drool2.gif" border="0" alt="[Drool 2]" /> ), a Dreamcast, a Gameboy Advance, and a PS2. I can see what is good but still play the great old stuff.

I love my NES, that's why I even got an expensive top loader so I could play all my games with ease. Nintendo was great when SNES and NES were around, but once N64 came out it all changed. It's like everyon has this mentality that if it's not 3-D and I can't spin around my character and I can't look at ever nook and cranny of a level in 3-D, it's bad.

All I'm saying is, some games were meant to be in kept in 2-D gameplay. Take Contra for example: 1 and 2 did awesome on NES, and Alien Wars did also on SNES, but then when they came to PS1, they were 3-D and did terrible. Now Konami got it right. Do the 3-D rendering and use the power of the system and make it look great, but keep in 2-D gameplay so you can have...dare I say it...FUN!!

So stop fidgeting around adjusting your camera and have fun. Some games just are not meant to be put in 3-D gameplay, maybe in graphics, but not gameplay, and Nintendo will go the way of the Sega, if they keep up with what I see in Starfox, Metroid, and Mario Sunshine. <img src="graemlins/shame.gif" border="0" alt="[Shame]" />
