well should i?

i love monkey ball, and its not on any other system. plus animal crossing has me uber intrigued. not to mention the possible sonic team stuff. and beach spikers, and mario sunshine.

but should i get one? i mean i also really want an xbox. jsrf, gunvalkyre, hotd3, virtua fighter 4, panzer.

also pso plays a big factor, i mean xbox has voice chat, but gc has new levels and stuff.

i am so confused.

At current stage, I prefer you picking up Xbox for Sega/Tecmo titles......

Gamecube really doesn't have any killer apps at this time unless you love Animal Crossing, Biohazard 0, Starfox, Wario.......etc......

IMHO, the Gamecube is a piece of shit. It was dead before it launched. Go Here to get some facts. If you want to buy a dead system, go right ahead. If you can get one cheap enough, it might be worth a few games. I would suggest getting a Xbox though, seeing as how it has more potential.

Um... Fuck off. I don't normally snap at people for their opinions, but you don't deserve to live...

EDIT: Gamecube is the only TRUE gaming system left on the mainstream market. We should be supporting it fully.

Gamecube? A great purchase! Cheap and good, exclusive games. Plus it won't take up much room and looks kind of nice.

Just make sure you STAY AWAY from Super Smash Bros.

Because its a putrid pile of turd!

I never understood the whole concept of not buying a particular system. I mean if it's a financial issue and you want the most for your money...I reccomend to 'normal' people to buy a PS2. It's chances of being around the longest and having the most games to choose from are definately the highest.

But for a 'gamer'? How could you not buy a system if you have the means. Most systems have at least one game that makes the system worth buying. Is the money a PC-FX costs worth playing Battle Heat? Honestly, no. I got one because I had the money and was very interested. I don't regret it slightly. The PC Engine has hundreds of good games...do you think anyone during it's time said 'buy the SNES or the Genesis over the TG-16'? Hell yeah. Everyone thought that except for the people who bought a TG-16, but now...people are re-discovering it for themselves and realizing it has a lot of great games. The same could be said for the Jaguar, the Amiga CD32 and even the Virtual Boy.

As a gamer, I've never encountered a video game system that didn't have at least ONE title that made owning that system worth the while.

So as a gamer I can't understand why someone wouldn't want a GameCube. Miyamoto could easily be argued to be the single greatest mind in the Game Development field. Kojima and Suzuki are both very very good, and could be argued to be the best, but I don't think either of them have the track record Miyamoto does. A lot of people will say 'Suzuki made this and made that' and it sounds impressive, and it is, but Miyamoto's resume doesn't sound impressive because they're games we're so used to hearing about. It's like getting excited over running water. But without running water, life wouldn't be so good. I mean how many times have you heard "Legend of Zelda" and "Super Mario Brothers" in your life? I think we just take him for granted.

With Miyamoto churning out games that a true gamer would appreciate, with Sonic Team, the Resident Evil series and the numerous 2nd and 3rd party titles such as Animal Crossing. I just can't phathom some one saying 'don't buy it'.

It's not like it's a question of "which one should I get?" which would be debatable depending on your tastes but "should I get it at all?".

Ignore everyone who says not to get one. They'll inevitably be one of the following:

-Holier than thou Geek. Everyone who plays games is a geek. The ones that are sad are the ones who think blood and tits and shiny surfaces make good games because it's 'cool'. Good game play makes a good game. You don't like the style? Fine. You refuse to play it because it looks 'kiddie'? You gotta be fucking kidding me.

-Generic System Hater. The person who believes that by putting down another system it makes thier purchase that much better. See the early Jaguar purchasers mad dissing of all other systems.

-The Uninformed. Someone who listens to the other two and really hasn't sat down for a good session of Super Monkey Ball.

I'm super pumped for Animal Crossing and contrary to popular belief....I don't own a GameCube.

Yeah, I don't own one. I've played a lot of the games over friends houses but there hasn't been that one game that made me jump up and buy one, although the tempation was there for a long time.

I'll have one and a copy of Animal Crossing by this weekend.

With Animal Crossing, RE0, Wario World, Cubivore, Doshin The Giant, Super Monkey Ball 2 and Mario Sunshine...plus games already out like Pikmin, Beach Spikers, Soccer Slam and Rogue Leader...and with other games like Mario Party 4, Metroid, Zelda and Mario Kart...

I'd say get one.

I disagree with you (but I respect your opinion)
GC have more killer apps than X Box ,Mario sunshine, resident evil .......... , and it's future games are even better ,Zelda ,RE:0/4 ,skies of arcadia ..........
and it's worth the money
that's if you are not able to buy at least 2 games a month but if can afford the money for that (or more) .......... PS2 will be the best choice

I personally would get a Gamecube.

I just recently traded off my X-Box for some AES carts because I didn't have time for it, and two, I just wasn't interested in it anymore. Halo is fun and everything don't get me wrong. There are other good solid titles, but I just found myself getting bored with it quickly.

I'm not a Nintendo fanboy at all, or a Microsoft hater. I do plan on getting an X-Box again when I feel there is better stuff out. But, for my money, the Gamecube is the system to go with. Great set of titles out, just having a Mario game finally out helps. Not to mention all of the must have titles between now and January 1st, 2003. Can't go wrong with Nintendo this time around.

Why anyone would say it's a dead console is beyond me. Only a damn fool would say that.

Let's say GCN dies tomorrow, and no games coming out (like Star Fox, Res Evil 0, Zelda, Phantasy Star episode 1+2, Skies of Arcadia, CvsSNK2, Ikaruga, and Metroid Prime) will make it. They've all been canned (even tho my list is about 60% games that are already done, or in Japan)...

The GCN is still a good system to own. I currently am loving the hell out of the following:

Rogue Leader
Resident Evil
Super Smash Bros Melee
Super Mario Sunshine
Animal Crossing

Add to the huge following of Monkey Ball 1 and 2, and those that enjoy the lesser games that are still good such as Pikmin, Wave Race, and Eternal Darkness. Yeah, lesser games, but still they would be thought of as top 5 on the Xbox.

Now, that first list of five are the ones that I think absolutely ROCK. Sure, there's other great games, but those right there are badass. I'm not counting the other games that are on all systems that kick ass such as the two football titles, Tony Hawk 3, and so on (name your favorite etc, like FIFA). So, this is a dead system? You're smoking crack if you think so.

I don't give a dirty damn if you don't want to buy a GCN. Fine, don't (not talking about you, sonic, I'm talking about those that don't like it for whatever stupid reason). But don't be an ass and tell others not to. There's tons of great reasons to buy one! Hell, since I'm a Panasonic Q owner, I get to even play imports and DVDs. It's my favorite "current" system.

i got a gc just for beach spikers.
its the most fantastic game in the world.
its girls and volleyball.
and yes. i am looking forward to DOA volleyball too.
but beach spikers is the shit.
you can make your own girls!
whooooo!
plus. its hella fun! i m pretty sad it didnt get
the coverage that alot of other games do.
i m looking forward to animal crossing tomorrow
and for the future i really cant wait for zelda and metriod.
and of course i hardly need to mention PSO
o. and biohazard 0.
but thats it.
i think your choice of system should correspond to
what games you want. i m not sure why thats so hard
to understand. i plan on getting an xbox around oct for
shen mue and i already have jsf and i m planning
to get gunvalkrye when i get around to it.
so much stuff to get... so little time.
wish i had broadband. i probably would have gotten an xbox first.
unfortunately i go where SEGA goes. and damit. they
just have to go every where dont they.
they re not making it easy.
i m sticking with my GC though. sonic teams putting
a good bit of stuff on the gc.
i m still holding my breath for NiGHTS.
not just some hokey gba one.

I never said i dont own a gamecube. I'm actually looking a a Q system right now, So fuck off. He asked for our opinions, i gave mine. He asked if he should buy a Gamecube, i said no. Since he provided no other information, i had to assume he wanted to know whick ONE system out of the two he should buy, i said Xbox. I personally own them all, i simply play my 'Cube less since...

A)The Cube has less gotta have, killer apps than any other system. Hell, it doesn't even have one yet.

B)Most of the games are done better on other systems.

C)WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING WHEN THEY DESIGNED THAT CONTROLLER! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Can you seriously tell me you would rather use that....thing to play any game than any other controller out there? I dare any of you to beat me at Capcom vs. SNK using that piece of crap without using that cheat-one button-groove. Why do you think they came up with that groove in the first place? It's the only way to make the game playable, due to the horrible controller and the fact that...

D)The Gamecube is made for little kids. You know it, I know it, We all know it. You can deny it if you want, but deep down you know it's true. I don't not like the Cube because it's for kids, i don't like the Cube because it doesn't seem like a viable long term investment.

Nintendo isn't even supporting it fully, so good luck.

Um...By the way Matt, Kim...Nice conversational skills you got there.

Sonic asked for our opinions, you respond with that? Superb.
Matt, you've struck me as a smart guy, why you can't come up with something better surprises me.

Did you guys even bother to follow the link? If you did, you would find some pretty good information concerning the cube.

IMO game cube is the most promising of the current systems. I think animal crossing just pushed me over the edge. That game looks amazing.
