We all know that with the cheap cost of replicating CD's, labels could have dropped prices long ago and still made hefty profits. It looks like it is FINALLY going to happen, though. Check out the story.

Awesome.

What I don't get is why people actually buy CD's at places like Sam Goody and Camelot. Practically everything is like $17.99-$19.99, if you're lucky there'll be a "sale" where they're selling for $14.99. Whoopity woo. Meanwhile the same CD costs $11.99 at Best Buy. So I do all my music purchasing there.

edit: stupid typo

I know what you're talking about exactly. I see people buying cd's at Sam goody when there's a Circuit City or Best Buy just down the block!! I just have to shake my head and feel sorry for those bastards.

Artists don't make jack off of CD sales. 50-75 cents per CD... and they have to pay back the production fees.

Hopefully a $9.99 price point on CDs would help the artists as well. I'm sure at least some pirates will knock it off when the price drops.

The whole industry is still trying to figure out why the sales were going down hill each year. Lowering the price? It's not the answer, the reason is because the music sucks! Back in early and late 80s, even up til early 90s (I was still a kid), I'd spend good chunk of my allowance for music cassette and CDs, these days I won't even take most CDs for free, plain and simply.

Most artists these days are just money hungry pics.

Yea, I totally see what you mean. I haven't bought a CD for over a year.

I've lost interest in music almost entirely anyway.

That's what happens when you get old.
