Well as some of you might already know, Nintendo has revealed that they'll have a huge announcement to make at the end of the year. Ofcourse this has brought up tons of speculation but this has to be the the best one yet. Honestly I don't believe this rumor (especially the second part) due too to many out side factors with Nintendo but you can make your own decision.

<a href="http://www.ubernintendo.com/ten.php?file=fullnew.php&id=71" target="_blank">http://www.ubernintendo.com/ten.php?file=fullnew.php&id=71</a>

Nintendo buys Namco in an attempt to gain better sales and sell more systems, be happy everybody!Read on!

Today I recieved an email from theProducer of Namco that Nintendo will buy over 60% of Namco's stock atthe end of the 2002 fiscal year. This is Nintendo's latest attempt to retain its position as top business in japan, apparently, most or all of namcos franchises will be pulled from xbox and ps2 once the purchase is made. A single subtle hint was made when Nintendo announced that namco would develop Starfox Armada for the Nintendo Gamecube and as far as im guessing Sega will soon follow the same path because it is working second party on the triforce arcade system.

no Dead To Rights or Soul Calibur 2 for the PS2 then? Ouch.

Lucky i have Dead To Rights for the xbox, but goddammit I'll miss Soul Calibur II if it doesn't make it, i'll buy another GC just for that.

i'm sure this is all a rumour though. Namco is too intertwined with Sony to be bought out by Nintendo.

I sure hope so.

Nintendo is the last company with history vying for mainstream attention in the hardware wars.

I'd hate to see Nintendo go the way of Sega or Atari.

I wish the big N the best of luck

Dont worry Soul Calibur 2 will still be released for all systems...the game is nearly complete and if they canceled the one for the xbox and ps2, they would lose A LOT of money...

I hope its just a rumour much like the rumour of microsoft buying capcom.
I can't imagine the future Tekken games only exclusive to the GC.PS2 already has Tekken 4 btw.Tekken is hardcore. And Soul calibur 2 deserves to be on all consoles. That game deserves the recognition.
This is just a rumour anyway.

Yeah, Namco does support Sony as far as Tekken games are concerned.Tekken games have always been exclusive to sony consoles, not counting the GBA version of tekken.I heard that the future ridge racer game would go multi-platform.Soul calibur 2 is already a multi-platform game.Namco supports all 3 consoles except for a small portion(tekken, motor GP) of their games which are exclusives.

OMG! No more repackaged Namco Pac-man + Galaga arcade classic packs that take up less than 0.00001% of the CD/DVD on the PS2, etc? How sad!

hmmm... historically, namco and nintendo never really got along... of course this is a new bizzarro era where VF4 is on a sony platform, so i wouldn't be surprised... i'd get rid of overhyped Rare for Namco any day...

Rare for Namco is indeed a good deal, but I don't believe it. I don't see what it in it for Nameco.

Who cares.

Namco has been nothing special for years, they USED to make kickass games (Rolling Thunder series, Splatterhouse series). Now all they make are shit Tekken games and Soul Calibur.

I doubt this is true, Namco are more in bed with Sony than EA is.

I'd rather have Rare than Namco anyday.

Perhaps if Namco is thinking about using the Triforce hardware to put out their arcade games. But why would nintendo buy 60% when all they need is 51%.

I thought Namco had some bad blood with Nintendo.

And Tekken on the GC controller just isn't right.

Tekken is not right on any controller! :D

Namco had something back in Ms. Pac-Man... ;) I don't know what the big deal with them is, Tekken is crap, Ridge Racer is crap, their museum collection is a ripoff, and Soul Calibur series is overrated (but very pretty).

If it is Sega Nintendo is buying, then we have some big news. Otherwise this is just flies farting in the wind.

This normally wouldn't bother me but the thought of playing Soul Calibur on a GC controller isn't very appealing.

if that happens it'll be awesome nintendo, and namco got together and had a kid. we could have like a tekken, soul claibur, and smash bros fusion. god i'd wet my pants if that happened. what they should do is get konami. imagine a castlevania collection series on the gc 1-3 on one disc, 4-sotn on another, and ohh man wouldn't that be cool.

Gawd. I bet most people who still wet their pants would make tinky where the stand if that happened.

I just can't associate Smash Bros. with fighting games. It's not.

This has to be total BS. "The Producer of Namco"? C'mon, that makes no sense at all. Why not Director or some other official title? Because, the idiot who runs that site is making it up.

this would be great news.

and I wouldn't doubt that this would happen.

Namco and Nintendo have been buddies for awhile... and with their deal on the tri-force... this is not surprising. But honestly, this is not big enough news for Nintendo to say that there is REALLY big news at the end of the 2002 year.

My Speculation.... This is only speculation...
is that Nintendo and Sega are going to be forming something... IE Nitntendo buys 60 % of their stock too... and Nintendo would be the controlling factor in the Tri-force, but all 3 companies will work together.

I know this sounds off the wall, but this make more sense of "big" news.

But also.... we could be hearing big BAD news... did they ever say it was good?

nintendo deserves to be on top IMO. They have History..... they care about their game quality, and they have and still do make some of the best games we have ever seen.

Actually, Nintendo is planning to buy 60% of Playmore's stock.

Expect a big change in the line up for KoF 2003 - can you say "Kyo vs. Mario"

yeah.

spam.

Yeah Tekken is so shitty that Yu Suzuki the Creator of VF likes it and help do the controls for Tekken 3. And Top korean VF players ShinZ and Maddog Jin just love it, heh.
