is it true what they say that if you don't eat breakfast that your metabolism wont start working until you eat lunch (if you eat lunch)??

my new diet is crazy but it kind of works:

for breakfast I have a glass of skim milk and a piece of entimenns fat free coffee cake.

Then for lunch I have 1 lean pocket.

Then I don't eat dinner because it feels like my metabolism shuts down around 4 oclock.

sound about right

Just try the trademarked diet from the lead singer of the Black Crowes (I forget his name)... Smoke a cigarette and take two deep breaths of air <IMG SRC="smilies/glee.gif" border="0">

Seems to work for him..

Damn, you don't eat anything! How do you have any energy?? When I work second shift I eat four meals a day: breakfast, lunch before work or at work, another meal at work, then dinner when I get home. My metabolism skyrocketed when I became serious about working out. I weigh 175.

My mom has been doing the Weight Watcher Points system diet, with minimum excercise, and she has lost almost 30 pounds. She looks alot different.

My dad is still a tub. <IMG SRC="smilies/mad2.gif" border="0">

Sometimes my stomach makes noises in my class.

Man, how do you survive on that much? That's not good for you.

And yes you can actually gain weight from not eating breakfast since your metabolism doesn't start too work (as much) until you eat something.

Hmm, I need to gain weight... maybe I should eat breakfast lol.

Try the Atkins diet. I started last April 26 and was 210. I am now 152. I am somewhat off the diet now but I haven't gained any weight back. Basically his theory is that people eat so much carbohydrates that the body spends it's time burning them off instead of fat. So you cut out 90% of your carb eating and your body will burn fat instead of carbs.

That's a rough one Shin Guile X!! There's danger of losing muscle mass (a lot) in the process and not having enough energy. My trainer gave me the no carbs advise only after 3pm (ie you don't eat any carbohydrates after 3pm) so your body has plenty of time to burn off the fat and you still have energy.

My best diet though was the eat less (get protein supplements) and train more <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

This is more intune w/ my concentration, and there is alot to say about this matter, but I will try to make it easy & short:

I know it's very hard, but...At breakfast, you are supposed to eat most, less on lunch, then least on dinner.

Why do you think it's named Breakfast? It means break the fast. What you eat in the morning, set your metabolism rate to some extent. If you eat more at breakfast, your body burns more calories through out the day. BTW, metabolism dictates that you eat at least three times per day. I believe that eating more at smaller amount is good idea too, but a recent govt longitutional study showed that people who ate 3 times/ day were more healthy--go figure. Anyways, it's great idea for diabetes (esp. Adkins/Protein diet works wonders). Back in track...If you eat less, your body is going to burn less calories--to conserve fuel. Sure, you might appear thin...but you are going to have alot of body fat% then. Why? Carbs & protein are used up first. Fat is reserved as emergency fuel. So, if you are in starving mode, you are going to end up w/ more fat. And you are going to be less healthy. Believe it or not, alot of supermodels have high body fat %. Oh, they may look fine, but theres alot of that good loving fat going around in that body, because they don't diet "properly". One w/ higher % of fat burns calories more slowly than one who has identical weight, but w/ lower fat%.

well I will rewrite my diet then.

breakfast = 3 eggs scrambled with butter, no toast. water for drink.

What would you guys recommend for lunch or dinner? I went on the atkins site and all the recipes they had required some special ingredient that only they sell. That made me suspicious.

I can't believe you should be eating steak all the time. What low carb/no carb lunches/dinners do you eat?
