I unearthed this turd today in MAME, and good lord. MK2 is still a pretty fun game, and was visually impressive back in the day (although I always preferred SF). But the likes of Stryker and Nightwolf and the robo-ninjas make me cringe.
Good lord what a big step back. Ugly stuff.

The robo ninjas were ok, but yea Striker and Nightwolf were just ridiculous. Was definately a pathetic follow up to MK2.

MK3 was terrible, but it did have one thing that I thought was very fucking cool at the time, and still do today

RANDPER KOMBAT

how freaky is that, to have both characters changing into other characters during the fight? it gets quite chaotic, it was a lot of fun.

and anyway, the characters in MK3 weren't bad as the ones in say, Time Killers or Survival Arts...

Was it just me, or was MK3 also much much more difficult than MK1 or 2. Those two games I could clear, MK3 and MK Trilogy were beyond my level.

I tried to get some of my Japanese friends to play some MK Trilogy for the PSX with me a few years ago... they wouldn't take it seriously and they kept complaining about how crappy it and other American games were. I had to put it away in the end, and drag out the DC so we could play CvsSNK2.

Plasma Sword.

A lot of the characters seem like Star Wars rejects.

MK3 was a joke. They had so many robo/regular ninjas it was terrible. Shit, add in a dozen shotos and you got yourself a winning vs game.

Is that the English name for 'Star Gladiator'? I love that game, I was playing it just the other day. The DC version (Star Gladiator 2) is awesome. Blood, and Billstein are two of my fav characters for any fighting game ever.

It's a much much better series than 'Street Fighter EX'. Half of the ARIKA characters in SFEX looked like they escaped from a circus.

Anyways, my vote goes to Dead Or Alive 3. Every character is lame and a piece of shit in terms of design.

Heh, I'd vote for Dead or Alive 1 for the Saturn, my Japanese friends made fun of that one too.

The bosses stage was ripped from Akira though, it was set to look like the elevator leading down to Akira's cryogenic chamber. I forgot to mention that in the Akira-inspired-video-game-art thread awhile ago.

You guys have no idea about crappy fighting game casts! ;-)

Just to name a few:

Kasumi Ninja -- Jaguar

A scotsman who shoots fireballs from under his kilt.. need I say more?

Fight For Life -- Jaguar

A psychiatrist in hell chasing a patient? C'mon!

Ultra Vortek -- Jaguar

Even though I *liked* this game and it's choppy framerate.. it's a polished turd... awful. The designs look like Rubbermaid and Black and Decker gone awry.

MK1 -- Various

That game was another AWFUL AWFUL cast. I like the MK series, especially 2 & UMK3, but that cast is an abomination.

B.I.O.F.R.E.A.K.S -- PSX/n64/DC

AIGGHHHHH!!! I got this for xmas, TRIED to like this game, I really did, but man is the character design a total waste. There's one or two really good ones, but BLEAHHHH!!!!

World Heroes Series -- Arcade/Neo

You cannot tell me this games series is anything but awful in terms of style. Yeah, I'll get flamed, but man, some people will like anything.

Honorable Mentions:
Fighters History
Karnov's Revenge
Tekken 4
That Final Fantasy Fighting game
One must Fall
Sango Fighter
FX Fighter
Street Fighter
Eternal Champions
TMNT Tourney FIghters
Rise of the Robots
Primal Rage
Killer Instinct 2

Teah thats it. I like the way the game plays and it does have a few good characters (Hayato and Billstein for starters) but a lot of them just look...terrible and thrown together.

I thought this thread was going to be about the 3rd Mortal Kombat movie, which I'm sure will have a terrible cast :)
I'm like the biggest Mortal Kombat movie fan evar, but even I hated the second one and I don't think a third is necessary..

I got pretty good with Stryker for the simple fact that it was humiliating to lose to him.

Oohh, about ten years ago there was a Dungeons and Dragons fighting game in development. I don't know if it was ever released, but I had played the demo for either my friend's 3DO or PSX.

Man that game was crappy. It was embarrasing to play, let alone to actually have a copy.

Iron & Blood: Warriors of Ravenloft

and yes it sucks.

However, my vote goes to the turdtacular "Shadow: War of Succession" on 3DO

The pain...
