Anyone in here who likes Mecha and Space Opera in the vein of Mobile Suit Gundam, might want to check out the largely obscure ARMORED TROOPER VOTOMS. Came out in 1983 and is a mishmash of Star Wars (it's set in a far away Galaxy not our own) with Blade Runner (Lots of Cyberpunk themes, plus "Perfect Soldiers" are reminecent of Replicants) and the mind set/back drop is like George Orwell's novel 1984 on acid, as the Astragius Galaxy has been at war for 100 years and the series centers around One Man, who may be more than man, where nothing is what it seems and death and destruction is at every depressing turn via ATs [Armored Troopers] which would fit inside a modern day C-5 Galaxy Transport.
Sure the Mecha are ugly, but then they were designed this way. Unlike Gundam, Macross and others this series has never gotten the recognition it deserves but has been available since 1996 from CPM/U.S. Manga Corps on VHS and on the now discontinued DVDs from Nutech Digital. 16 DVDs however, as the series is 52 episodes long and had 5 OVA spin offs as well. For those who don't know of this great series check out more on it at...

for those who don't care, sorry to have wasted you time. But the series is for diehards and open minded ppl, just like the Neo is for gamers
