It doesn't effect me in the slightest, because I was waiting to see the new mod revisions, which always happens with new mod chips, so you don't get stuck with an old one. And also you never know, but MS could lockout modded xboxs from Xbox Live, and the last thing I wanna do is screw myself over with a system I can't even use online because I had to go and get it modded.
If that must have Japanese game ever comes out I'll probably just drop the cash for a Jap Xbox, or if a boot disc doesn't come out first.

If you have to pawn your wifes wedding ring, jack a car, whatever you have to do, buy this game.
It's the greatest mech sim of all time, best looking game ever IMO, the mechs look fucking real. When you blow up power lines in town, you can see individual strands of wires falling and moving, bolts flying down, and sparks. It looks fucking real.
The controller is in a word, perfect. Yes there are a shitload of buttons, but you mainly only use the shifter and direction stick while moving, when you have a target you switch it into the gear you want, and take up both sticks (Turret direction and walking direction stick). It's like as close to piloting a mech as you can get, if you don't memorize your buttons, you can get your ass stomped in a fight real fast. You can't just stand still and shoot at shit, they move.
You gotta be able to target someone, get a missle off, and then shift into high gear and fucking dodge his incoming fire, then while he's re-loading you set it off on his ass.
When you need to re-load you have a button for that, if you get a fire you have a button for that. Once you get used to everything you'll really like it, you pretty much have to do everything yourself. On night stages you have infrared scope vision. You have to communicate with your other mechs thru radio, you have to switch frequencys so the enemy can't hear you. It's BAD ASS. Capcom are the gods of gaming.
All I have to say is order this shit anyway you can, order two, you'll see them on ebay one day for some insane price.

So, how do you play Tekki without a japanese or modded Xbox? If you don't have a modded/JPN Xbox, then you must have been lying about Tekki.
