"Mail the completed form along with the original EBgames.com packing list (dated June 9, 2003 to August 3, 2003) and the original proof of purchase (UPC code) from the boxes to"

Do they want me to CUT OUT the bar code? I really don't want to do that! Is that what they're asking for though? I ordered Bomberman Generations and got it today. I thought I could just send the packing list and the printed form, but now that I reread it....

I am afraid so my friend. You could photocopy and try giving them that, but I never tried and it probably wouldn't work, but you never know.

You'll need to cut out the CPU code, my friend

I don't think they'll accept photocopy since people will make copy and share with others.

They're not stupid.

Still remember back in 16-bit era Sega had promotion and it needed customer to cut out CPU codes from Genesis games

I worked for an EB Games for 3 years and yeah, they want you to cut up your games. Stupidest crap ever, the reason is(and this was told to me by the Regional Manager when I brought this fact up) they want to discourage people from sending the rebates in. The RM suggested that I tell people to photocopy the game covers and send the originals into the company if they want to keep them that bad!

ARGH!! Why are people who have no appreciation for something managing a whole region of it!! very_ang

That company is going down the tubes anyway :p

It has to be to discourage people from doing it or to have an excuse not to give the rebate to people who didn't read well. If you send them the packing sheet it came in and they check their records, they can easily verify whether or not you bought the game. Heck, they could just give you the rebate after you order! Clearly they want to get people to buy games because of the offer and then NOT end up taking advantage of it. Well fuck them. I'm getting my rebate. I would never do this normally, but cutting out the bar code on a GC game doesn't seem so bad. At least it doesn't ruin the artwork or the integrity of the packaging. I can't allow them to get the best of me! I hope Bomberman Generation doesn't become some kind of rare expensive game ever.

Truth is, a very high percentage of people who get mail in rebates do not submit them. Even ones worth lots of money. Simply they forget or they do not follow instructions, or they don't want to be assed to do it. I promise you, if you don't send in that original UPC they will send you a letter (after the offer has expired of course) saying that you did not fulfil the terms of the rebate and that you do not qualify... Happened to me on a Sony CD-ROM... bastards. If you want to keep the game in good shape (and most people do I am sure)... then toss the $20 away. If you don't care, then send it in... that's how I see it,
