I'm not going to get into this to much. Just one thing, MAKE ABSOLUTE SURE that you can make the distinction between Christianity and Catholicism. All to often the two are confused and thought of as the same thing, which is not the case.

I believe in Christianity, but pretty much just go on my own ideas of what I think Christianity is. I don't think Catholics are all bad, but I just couldn't deal with some of their backwards ass beliefs (8 years of Catholic school can do that to a person). I think I'm done with this thread now.

You want some answers..... I'll try to help you with that.

To Be all Honest, I am a Christian... Lutheran to be exact. I do not believe in Christianity.... I believe that Jesus died for my sins on the Cross, so that we might have eternal life. He died for everyone, not one person is left out. THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE TO DO is profess that Jesus is your savior from all sins... and that Jesus is God.

You cannot earn your way to heaven. Good works WILL not get you heaven, just professing that you believe that God's son Jesus died for your sins.... and what I said above.

God the Father, God the Son (Jesus... is God who was made flesh/born of the virigin Mary/died on the cross) and the Holy Spirit are all God.... they are the Triune God... the 3-in-1. Christians only believe in 1 God. This is a Hard concept for many people to understand. I don't want to say its like a marriage..... but The Holy Spirit is GOD in the spirit form..... ect.

We believe that God created everything. We absolutely denounce evolution... which... scientifically is a crock of crap... sorry if I offended everyone, but I have studied it in college... and there are tons of holes that scientists try to plug up, but more holes happen when they plug up the others ones.... like a barrle with 4 holes and a man with 2 hands tries to plug them all up. anywany...

The resounding bible passage is John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever shall believe in him shall have eternal life. This goes back to the "works will not get you to heaven."

God is just not some uncaring idiot...... many times.... God is the only one we can turn to, in times of trouble... etc.. We don't always see the answers he gives us, but eventually we do.. whether we are smacked with it, or whatever.

Although I'm sure I'll be locking/deleting this thread at some point, I can't help but wonder if a thread simply titled "Islam" or "insert any other religion here" would receive as negative of a reception as this one has. Why is it that Christianity can evoke such a swift deluge of negative sentiments? Were most of you beaten up by a guy in a Jesus costume at an early age?

I belive in Christianity, not Catholicism. Christianity is your own belief in god and jesus. Catholicism is belief in the Curch, and the Pope, and that giving to the Curch and doing whatever it says will get you to heaven.
I think Catholicism is a bunch of bullshit, and the Pope can go to hell.
I hate how Christians get a bad reputation because of the Catholic Curch.

And I agree with Bluevoodu completely. It's your own personal faith in Christ, not the Curch, that will get you into heaven.

The Bible states that, if you become a Christian, you will be hated by the world. People hate Christianity because it professes only ONE way to salvation. Christianity states that, if you are not a Christian when you die, you are headed for hell. Simple as that. Sound harsh? Yes. But it's very easy to become a Christian (as Bluevoodu said), and it does not require a lot of futile effort to try to "earn" your way to Heaven. You don't need to shell out cash, as most people would like to believe.
