Im sure weve all heard about this about a month or so ago. Theres a small article about it in the new PSM, doesn't say much of anything though. But it got me thinking about the game again.
From what little we know about it what do you think of Capcoms approach to this new installment in the Street Fighter series?
I think SF2 had the best artistic style of them all, so basing the new art work on that style sounds great to me. Hopefully the rumor about the original 12 world warriors returning is also true. I think that SF2 had one of the most diverse best casts of any fighting game. There wheren't alot of pointless characters that all played the same like we see so much of in Namco's fighters, and in some of the later SF and KoF games. (Do we really need so many Shotos for SVC:Chaos?)
Im not sure how Capcom is going to do the gameplay this time. As long as its not as jugglehappy as SFZero3, and not as sparce as the SF3 engine (awesome as it is), ill be happy. Hopefully parrying, or a similare system, will survive in some form. Ive actually become quite a fan of roles lately. But NOT the way Capcom did them in CVS series. They where WAY to powerfull there. If roles are done like they are in KoF, that could be a welcome addition to the gameplay. Still in the end I dont think I really want them in a true SF game.
As for graphics. I hope Capcom doesn't use CPS2 or CPS3. Naomi would be the best fit, or the PS2 based arcade board. Either of those should be a good choice. If Capcom doesn't put this game in high resolution I will vomit. Please, no 3d backgrounds! Make it 2d all the way.
Special effects: I love a good flaming dragonpunch, or shin-shoryuken style effect, but the giant flashy explosions we saw in CVS2 dont belong in a game like this. Save those for Namco and their Tekken, fists of electricity, games.
I think it would be cool for Capcom to revist 3 or 4 past stages from old SF games. Redrawn obviously, and changed. Like revisiting your childhood home 10 years later. Its familiar and comforting but different. They could even do the same thing with a few of the classic SF2 BGMs.
Well those are a few of my thoughts on the subject.
