On a more serious note, "The Source" rumor has been up on imdb ever since a few weeks before Highlander: Endgame even came out in theaters.

However, I did get an email from the official highlander mailing list straight from Peter Davis and William Panzer themselves who said the new Highlander movie is going to start filming in early 2003. I got that email about 3 weeks ago! :)

Oh yeah, I love the renegaed version of Highlander 2.

Highlander 1 is still the best and part II was good for it's Cyberpunkish stuff, but IMO the series just went downhill from there :(

I agree. I liked Highlander the tv series a lot, but for the movies... I don't know. Just didn't work seeing Adrian Paul on screen.

I liked the television series more than the movies also. But not that strange "The Raven" series. It was ass.

Depends on if a HK company compiles it or if a US company does...

A US company would try to put it on 16~20, while an HK company would fit it all on 10 or less.

I don't know how I missed that before, but as you can see, season 1 is out, and it's 8 discs for 22 eps. That should be some high-quality video.

8 discs for 22 episodes.

It's worse than I thought.

They must think that people that like Highlander are complete fucking morons.

The only reason that it's that expensive is that is how much the VHS set cost, and being stupid execs they assume that people are happy to pay the same amount for something that costs significantly less to manufacture(then again, if they really did spend a lot of time reproducing them...limited market...blah blah) As far as it being eight dvds, I don't have a problem with that, as I really doubt they are dual sided, dual layer, as a HK company might make, hell, I doubt they are even dual-layer. I would rather it be 8 discs than 2 compressed to shit. And even if it was two discs, I am willing to bet that they would still try to gouge the same amount for it.

Maybe it's me but why are all TV show DVD sets for a season so horribly priced? I would never buy stuff like the X-Files complete seasons. For as much as a season costs I could get blown and fucked by a call girl, and that is worth more if you ask me. :D

Only a few TV shows have been priced reasonably...like the Simpsons which I'll pick up one of these days. I think it's about $34.99 or around there at Best Buy.

Anime DVDs are the same. 22 DVDs for Rurouni Kenshin? Come on! But when it comes to decent deals, Simpsons are up there, and so is the Transformers. I don't have the same pull with those that I did with Kenshin though. Kenshin is more like a soap opera in that each episode flows into the next, whith a few breaks in between. Not the same case for Simpsons and TF...

They are working on a disc technology which will record the media through various layers of a single disc, allowing one disc to hold the equivalent of many DVDs. Even when they could fit the entire run of a show onto one disc, you can bet they will space it out over many.

Why? Because people would not buy a single disc that contained 100 episodes for the cost they would charge. If they get 10 discs with 10 episodes apiece though, then they feel like they are getting their money's worth. <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

I remember about a year ago reading about a type of CD technology that would hold roughly about 140 Gigabytes per disc. I would expect that we may see this in about 5 years or so ?

Judging from the way the industry likes to milk tech we may not ? Hell look how long VHS , LD's and DVD's have been around prior to actually switching from one to another{ for consumer use } as a preferred media

Its sad that this type of technology exists , but the powers that be have to bleed us dry for several years before they will release it to us.

As for the topic at hand , I never really got into the TV show { basically if its on USA I avoid it like the plague } The origional movie was great but they got pretty stupid after that.
