(yeah another countdown)

Who's waiting for this great game to be released in Japan in a mere 19 days?! I am of course... (as my sig hints)...everyone else speak up.

Here's what is believed to be the first review of the game:

<a href="http://www.ntsc-uk.com/MainContent/PS2/R-TypeFinal/R-TypeFinal.htm" target="_blank">http://www.ntsc-uk.com/MainContent/PS2/R-TypeFinal/R-TypeFinal.htm</a>

It's been confirmed Eidos is picking up the game for release stateside...but I don't believe there's a set release date yet.

Thanks to various people at the shmups forum for the info; let the discussion of the game commence!

Hmm, seems to be some 2D-3D mixture. I dont like them so much. Loved the 2D versions, but you never know-could be good. As same goes for my beloved Castlevania game that is under development. It is gonna be 3d. I will give it a chance of course but still I feel raped.

I've got 100% faith in all 2.5d games after playing Contra: SS for the PS2; honestly one of the best games I've played in the past 3 years. I still play it every few days...hard as a bitch and unforgiving...but you keep coming back.

As long as a decent developer is behind the transition [Konami, Treasure] things will work out. Both Gradius and the new Castlevania game both played awesome to me [at e3]

I will kill my self if the new castlevania is gonna be like the preavious attempts to N64. I really hope that the game is gonna rock. As for Contra, I kinda missed something in that game, did not feel like the older, cult, legendary ones. Think about a Contra or Castlevania game with Neo's graphic standard. LIke MS3 but Castlevania..pure 2D art.. man, that would be something. frown

Yeah i remember reading the previews for it and the review summed it up.It takes the whole forumla and puts some nice graphics and music, add a couple of extras and BAM!

Shame to hear they didn't try something a little new,i don't want to play the same game i have trashed already and felt like i have played it a zillion times before. But i'm still glad they released it,i welcome any new shooter with open arms.

I will still buy it with my Japanese Playstation 2 when i get it,along with Metal slug 3 and other goodness. But my heart is with Gradius V more than any thing,it's gonna rule.

Bump with the News that its going to be released stateside by Eidos.

Also...if you're a shooter-fan, you're probly interested in Border Down. So here's an MP3 collage of Border Down music from the soundtrack.

Now...back to R-type discussion. Here's a link to a good thread/review of the FINAL, Commercial, On the shelf version of R-Type Final.

Seems like it's got some bad slowdown. No big deal...I can manage. I'm still excited, and you should be too you little prick. Put down your lame ass games [MADDEN 3009] and import this gem.

I think the Border down music is great,i also am pumped up for this game.

Hmmm, about the R-Tyoe review, seems good, but its the slowdown i am worried about,i don't mind some, but as long as it doesn't ruin the flow of the game im happy.I got quite annoyed when R-Type 3 slow down quite a lot,man was that annoying.

Man, slowdown sounds kind of bad. I'm still as excited about this release as when I pre-ordered it though. Can't wait to start unlocking those ships.

I also pre-ordered Border Down. Most any new shmup release gets my full attention.
