God I hate these damn pop up messages! How do I stop them without paying for the program, which ironically is sold by the same people who send you the messages in the first place. Thanks.

c.t.h:
Spybot Search and Destroy!

...is what you need.
That only works if the pop-ups aren't part of the program. If the pop ups are part of the program, SpyBot will likely make the program stop working.

If you need to register to get rid of them, you can always search someWAREZ and find the crack.

There's a program called Proxomitron that works decently and is free (don't remember the website though). Zone Alarm is another good program, but I don't remember if ad-blocking comes with the free version.

For removal of spyware already on your PC, try Ad-Aware (www.lavasoftusa.com).

The Proxomitron kicks ass. I have it installed on all my computers. You can get it here: <a href="http://www.computercops.biz/downloads-cats-19-10-10.html" target="_blank">http://www.computercops.biz/downloads-cats-19-10-10.html</a>

Strangely, the program's author seems to have pulled the plug on his site.

I must have missed something here ? Are speaking in refrence to pop-up web adds ?

I use Adaware to search for scumware on my pc but had no idea it could block pop-up ads ?

If that is what you are after I highly recommend this
<a href="http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/pow.htm" target="_blank">http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/pow.htm</a>

Its free and works very well.

Ad Aware by Lavasoft is free and reliable. IT gets ride of spybots and all that garbage effectively.

To prevent pop ups ENTIRELY, I use the Mozilla web browswer. Netscape is descended form it, and it hgas far superior security features and capabilities than Microsoft could eVER hope to accomplish. I especially LOVE the cookie management whihc no one else does so effectively.

Ok, it blocks programs from popping up windows, you can block websites from eVER siending you advertisements or cookies (LOVE the graphics block, imagine never having to see banner ads on any web page again! :)

BNest of all, its free.

For the other members here who use AOL (I know, I know...), there 8.0 browser has a built in pop-up blocker that works surprisingly well. I haven't seen an unwanted pop-up ad since I upgraded.
