Well, I did this way back when on orochinagi.com....

The format is simple, you just put your choices down according to the catagories I set before you. After a while, I'll take all the choices and take the highest voters. I'll post the results at a later date. Thank you for your voting. I'm putting my choices just to get it started. It doesn't necessarily have to be anime, it can be american cartoons as well.

Present Based (takes place in the present): Akira
Future Based (takes place in the future): Vampire Hunter D

(Gots to haves the music!)

I completely agree with Blaine.

Blaine, you seem to know your anime fairly well. Most people haven't heard of Otomo's Memories. Do you watch and fansubbed anime? By the way, Gennosuke the Ronin, Akira is very much set in the future, not in the present. It takes place in "Neo Tokyo" after "World War 3". Ya know what I'm saying? There's even a date given at the beginning of the movie to make it clear that it's not set in the present. G. the Ronin, I like most of your choices, but lost all faith when I see how much you like DBZ. I think the animation quality is not so great on average and the plot is nothing to write home about. I think it just screams mediocrity IMO.

. I've been watching Anime for...about 14 years now, not just in the sense that we all did by watching Transformers but I was physcially aware of these movies and series from Japan when I was about 8 or 9. It's kinda cool to look back and realize that I saw Akira in 1989...right after it came out.

I used to get all of my stuff and advice on stuff to get from a place called Time Tunnel, a little comic shop about 5 miles from my house.

I went there a couple months ago, because I missed it and wanted to see how it changed.

It closed up 2 or 3 years ago. I was pretty disapointed.

I'm not SUPER knowledgable anymore...I've been outta the loop for 2 or 3 years but I do my best to stay on top

Memories was FANTASTIC I was so pleased that I could just puke.

I put it down as 'present' even though two of the segments really appear to be in the future...mainly because I liked Stink Bomb the best .

I do get fansubs once in a while. I used to get them and talk shop with people in the old WBS.net, I still talk to a guy I met there years and years ago and once in a while he'll hook me up with something new and cool...he's where I got Memories from.

I'm really glad to see someone else knows Memories and how very very good it is.

One of my bigger disapointments in life is the fact that, to my knowledge, it was done all on computers and therefore I can never own a Cel from it.

Oh well...I do CG too, so I guess it's a real-life example of "Live by the Sword/Die by the Sword".

Thanks for noticin', I'm always glad to someone else who appreciates the finer titles.

Wolf: Just for the record... according to Akira, WW3 took place in 1988. The actual story takes place thirteen years after. This year.... so... present!

I'm going to let the topic go for another week or so. Then I'll tally the score and see which animes won. Keep the votes coming!
