Sega Saturn Oddity, Seganet Xband?

I just picked up this rather odd version of Virtual On for Saturn, which I didn't even know existed, it's Virtual On for Seganet, pretty much the Japanese version of Netlink Virtual On, but this says it works over XBand, and even has a pic of the Saturn XBand.

The odd part is about this game, I can't play it offline at all! I can only access the options menu for the game, without the XBand device in the cart slot, I can't play it at all, I don't even know if you could play it offline even with the XBand device in the slot.

Does the US netlink Virtual On have offline play? Anyways here's a pic of it, sure wish I could play it! Guess I have to get a US version of the game after all

It does look cool on the shelf though.

Heh well it's good for something, the CD's got red book audio, so I can use it to rip the killer soundtrack off of.

I saw that once before and didn't understand why it had a different color to it. I have the original Japanses one (no Online play). Never played the US one.....How much did you pay for it? It would look nice in my collection don't you think?

From what I found out XBand was the company that was hired to do the online play in Japan for Saturn, just like theres different browsers for DC in Japan and USA.

There is also a Daytona CCE XBand edition, Bomberman and Rally, as well as a couple others. But similar to the Virtual On I have, you probably can't play any of them without the XBand device.

I have a Saturn Netlink coming soon I won off eBay, I'm gonna see if this game recognizes it or not, it probably won't.
