Was it just me, or did the Episode II trailer blow?

Well, maybe I'm being too harsh...

I went to Monsters Inc. to see Monsters Inc., not the trailer. It was the 10:10pm show so it was all adults. The whole theater didn't really react to the trailer. Sure, its started out well (with the Vader breath and everything)... but it just ended to quick after showing stuff that felt like it could've been ripped right out of Episode I. Nothing to really 'WOW!' me (or anybody else), just a few 'oh...' reactions.

I also noticed that Jar-Jar Binks was notable omitted, even though he's supposed to be in the film. I admit I was ready to boo if he did appear in the teaser, but I'm now even more offended that they didn't put him in... Are they trying to fool people into seeing that malformed fuck again?

Anyway, I'd love to hear other opinions and how other theaters reacted.

I was on the Promenade in Santa Monica, admittedly a little more sophisticated place to see a movie.

I also saw the trailer at a viewing of Monsters, Inc. this past Friday and I've got one word...

"yawn"

Was not the least bit moved to see the film. I also thought the CG work featured in the trailer looked very, um, how shall I say...like CG and not at all "real". The good Star Wars news I can share is that I went and saw the current museum exhibit "The Myth of Magic" at the Toledo Museum of Art the following Saturday. It featured lots of great costumes and props from the four previously released movies. Great to see all of the neat stuff used in episodes IV-VI and I was relieved to see the episode I items comprised the least of the lot. The original trilogy still owns...

I'll have to wait untill I am allowed to download it using my Star Wars DVD from the official site.

Monsters Inc. Made 60+ m. I know it's a good movie, but do you think the trailer had something to do with that? It obviously did. Expect the earnings to drop 60 percent next weekend. And once Harry Potter comes out, kiss it goodbye. Its like its summer or somthing, all of these blockbusyers coming out right now...

I wonder if LotR will live up to expectations...

Well, let me go ahead and get it out in the open that I did NOT like Shrek. I remember laughing very little upon viewing it back in May. As for Monsters, Inc. I thought the movie had an entertaining back story and was very humorous (with lots of great voice work) to boot. Pixar's CG work is, once again, top notch. My opinion is that they are unmatched in the field. All things considered, Toy Story 2 remains my favorite Pixar film but Monsters runs a close second.

P.S. The opening short to Monsters, Inc. is a great piece of work also. Without spoiling it, I'll just say that I laughed quite a bit.

I liked Monsters Inc. It wasn't as good as Toy Story 2 or the underrated Antz. I thought it was about as good as Shrek: Funny, but not the best thing this year. Still, a nice time. As Starrgrove said: great voices and neat concepts stole the show.

There was an old fan created one (from eons ago) that just reguritated pics/shots from Episode one mixed in with stock footage of some of the new announced actors and then someone took time to ad lightsabers to one of the battle scenes from BraveHeart (look closely).

I thought the trailer was decent.

It didn't get nerd/geek blood pumping though.

The Trailer that is being shown at Monsters, Inc. is apparently only a Teaser for the real Trailer which will be shown November 16th when Harry Potter opens.

You can view the Star Wars Episode II trailer at www.quicktime.com then click on trailers to view it. I was not blown away by the trailer. To be honest, Episode 1 did not blow me away either in terms of the story or action. I can only hope that Episode II is better than the first.
www.quicktime.com go there

I like epsiode 1. Its stands as a great starting point to a grand adventure. We all have to start somewhere, right? Even if those startings are kind of modest.

Put epsidoe 1 into perspective for a moment. Think about all the cool moments. I had a lot of them...lot of bad ones too, but what are you going to do? It was a kids movie, just like all the other star wars films.

The trailer was okay. Pretty much what Greg said.
I liked it when they showed Yoda. It's hard to go wrong with Yoda!
