Why isn't there an official Nintendo GBA light source?

I hate the third party shit and I never succumb to buying them. I rather just sit under a 150 watt bulb (which I do). If we wait long enough, an official Nintendo light source will come out eventually. Don't you guys remember the PS2 and the DVD remote - it took like forever for an official one to come out. The DVD remote was of high quality too.

Go to ncsx and go to their Gameboy Advance Hardware section. The first product you see is called the Arm-Light. It is sanctioned by Nintendo so it is offically licensed. I have one and it works great. Only prolem I have with mine is the little tabs that hold it on break easily. I just hold it on with some small rubberbands.

Nintendo knows well enough about the problems with the lighting in the GBA. I'm sure in a year or two they will do a re-release of a new GBA with better back lighting.

There is a licensed GBA light available in the US at Toys R' US stores... I saw it recently... But I still like my Radica Flood Light, that thing is heavy, clunky, but it is durable and works great (even if it does eat batteries like crazy.)

I have been lucky with the GBA. I have a window right next to my bed so I can just lay back on my bed and play Castlevania and the upcoming Metroid game with ease :)

Woah, that's how I play my GBA 95% of the time. I lay back on my bed with the window right behind me. But I tend to play the GBA at night 1 hour before I go to bed and with the 150 watt "library" lamp to the left. Have you ever experienced numbness in both arms for having to hold the GBA upright? I get it an hour or sooner into a session and I'll then have to shake them out. Annoying as hell but that's the price I have to pay for enjoying the GBA :p

I've heard great things about this light since it doesn't project a sweet spot. This is a light I was tempted to buy until I saw the rumor mill reporting that Nintendo UK were developing a backlit GBA in Germany.

Hope this is true...

The reason they cut out a backlit scren is because it would drain a ton of battery power.

Look at the Game Gear, it took 6 AA batteries, and they only lasted an hour at best.

The GBA can last 10 or 15 hours with only 2 batteries.

Ya but how much more would a switch and wiring be to turn on and off a backlit function?
