When I play Jak & Daxter (and only Jak & Daxter) my PS2 makes a really wierd clicky noise constantly. Is it due to the fact that the game is constantly streaming data off the disk? Why would it click? AHHH??????? No other games do that!

My copy does the same, then again, most PS2 games make tons of noise anyway.

Most of the actual disc scratching happened to people using the system vertically from what I heard.

[edited - was meant to say veritcal, not horizontal ]

My disk has no scratches though. Just makes alot of noise, like gears grinding and misaligning. It's the only blue-bottomed game I own.

I actually heard that scratches were a result of using it vertically

Vertically does seem to be a bit riskier. Some folks have had no trouble, but almost all the reports of trouble we've gotten were from folks who ran it vertically.

J&D does stream like crazy all through the game, so that could very well be it--just a noisy drive moving a boatload of data, like you guessed.

Blue bottoms are CD-ROMs, silver bottoms are DVD-ROMs.

Just wondering here. You can't play the PS2 upside down, can you; like you could the PS?

It doesn't have a spindle with a clip on place for a disc, so I don't want to try that.

On a lighter note, my friends launch PS2 is so bad he not only has to stand it up, he has to lean it over another 45 degrees like it's going to fall over backwards onto its top to get it to work.
