Primal Rage

Amist all this talk of fighters like Time Killers and Bloodstorm, an old game flashed through my head. PRIMAL RAGE. Anyone remember that game by Atari?

7 gigantic creatures that almost reminds me of King of the Monsters. This game wasn't really too successful I think, but looking back, it made quite an impact.
It was one of the original arcade games to give overprotective parents and senators plenty of sleepless nights.

It also had a toy line by Playmates for pete's sake. Or maybe I'm wrong, maybe Primal Rage was successful. I dunno.
The toys I remember were pretty cool.

There was also rumor to be a Primal Rage II but that was canned. It'd have been nice to see how a sequel would have panned out.
Weird... I thought of this game and now suddenly I have an urge to play it again and see what it really was like. Fortunately, this game just about has been ported to every system imaginable pre-96!

Well ihave the PCB and its still one of fave beat em ups ever!!!!!! and even today it still looks good espeicially animation!! (dunno about console versions) And 2 was supposed to come out where ya dinos caould turn into humans but it got canned!!but i hear a beat went for a few thousand on ebay. they have pics on www.klov.com i still love it and always will!!! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

this be another game that brings back horrible horrible memories for me.

may 1995, my brothers brithday and he gets secret of mana. Yeah well anyway, he doesnt want it an despite my want for it, i dont get it. long story short he trades it in for primal rage.

I also think that this was the first, and to date, only game that allowed you to urinate on your opponent (it's one of those gorilla guy's fatalities.. Primal Rage is pretty shitty, I remember playing it in the arcades, the excitment wore off after about 2 games of it for me.

Pretty much a Mortal Kombat clone with Dinos.

atleast mk had an excuse for shitty 3dish, the arcades in the early/mid 90s sucked.

Even though it wasn't a very technical or polished game, the concept of huge fighting dinosaurs appealed to me for some strange reason. I wasted a ton of quarters on PR in the arcade, but the home system ports (even the 32-bit ones) were severely lacking. I almost wouldn't mind picking up a PCB of this for my Super NOVA.

I was in the bidding for PR2 when it was on ebay...I forgot if my max was $1500 or 2000 tho...all I remember is that I bid a crazy ammount thinking no one would ever outbid me on a PR game (I thought I was the only one who liked this game in the arcade), but someone outbid me in like 10 minutes. Too bad. I would have really liked to try this out. Probably will never get the chance again <IMG SRC="smilies/crying.gif" border="0">
