I've asked a few friends about this, thought I would post the question on here to see what other peoples' thoughts are.
Basically, I'm looking for a monitor that's around 22-24 inches. I won't actually be using it with a PC, I'm going to be using it with my spare Xbone and Xbox 360 that's in my office. It needs to have speakers and a headphone jack (I'll mostly use headphones with it, I know built in speakers are awful.)
I've narrowed it down to these two choices that seem to fit the bill:
https://www.amazon.com/24-inch-Free...TF8&qid=1511540616&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+vg245
and this:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236335
The main difference here is basically the VG245 has a TN panel while the VN248 is IPS. The IPS panel looks MUCH better than the TN, but the TN has better response time, and has a rotatable stand which would be handy for tate. The IPS is a bit cheaper, but the cost savings would be offset from me having to order a rotating VESA mount. Input lag seems the same on both monitors (virtually nonexistent.)
I actually don't own any LCD screens outside of my laptop, so I haven't really used them for gaming. For those that have, what are your thoughts? My only reservation on the IPS is the response time, in some reviews some people mentioned a slight ghosting on the IPS panel, others say they game on it all the time and it's perfect. Ghosting would drive me bonkers and I probably wouldn't end up using it much. Meanwhile on the TN panel there are tons of rave reviews from gamers, but the color obviously isn't quite as good.
