What do the colored lines on AES cases mean?

Some games like Neo Turf Masters have green lines

Some games like Metal Slug have blue lines

And most of them have red lines?

What do they mean? Are they some kind of categorization of the genre? Help me out guys, this has been running through my mind for a while and I can't find an answer

ok my aes games are all japanese which don't seem to have the coloured lines.for a moment i didn't know what you was on about lol.

Different colors are supposed to be for different genres, but SNK often put the wrong color on a game.

They are for guidance when trimming the tops of inserts. You need to trim yours off now otherwise you will look like a tool.
