Replacement PROG board for SS5?

So I saw this other thread about someone wanting to buy PROGBK1 boards and realized that I could probably get a BK2 board to fix my busted Samurai shodown 5, I just wanted to double check with you guys to see if it's feasible.

SS5 i using a BK2-R board with a cmc 50 chip on it.
From what I can tell via mvs-scans it's basically the same as a BK2 board but with the added pcb on one of the roms?
So if I get a BK2 board with the cmc 50 chip on it I should be able to migrate the roms along with the extra pcb from my SS5 board to the new one?

That would narrow it down to:
kof01
kof02
matrimelee
MS4
Pochi & Nya
Rage of the dragons
and SS5

so yeah, just wanted to check with you guys if I'm on the right track here and if you think there's any chance of finding one of these boards with a working cmc 50 chip on it.

Thanks!

Isn't the encryption different between games? Ie. each game needs different cmc 50?

Oh, I was hoping that it was generic enough to be re-used between these games.
If that's the case I guess I'll have to look for a SS5 copy with a busted CHA board and combine the two.

A CMC50 on a PROG board? I haven't seen that. The PROGBK2R uses the PCM2

ah damn! you're completely right Kurtz, I got them mixed up :/

The question still stands though, disregarding the PROG board.
I'm going off this list for games with the 50 chip: https://wiki.neogeodev.org/index.php?title=NEO-CMC
and looking at scans the CHA boards look almost identical between them but if GadgetUK is right there are not alot of options I guess.

Before you dive in, what exactly is the problem?

I'm thinking the cmc is most likely shorted based on the fact that the graphics are scrambled, I'm getting no audio, the chip is getting really hot fast and there was continuity between ground and vcc on the board.
After going over the board to check the traces and cleaning everything with no result I removed the cmc chip and the board is no longer shorted.

Ah I see. Then you don't need a prog board, you just need a CMC50.

yeah I got mixed up with the boards :)
so do you think the CMC50's are all the same or would I need to get one specifically for SS5 as GadgetUK suspected?

I was thinking my options are to either get a replacement board and migrate the roms or get a chip and just replace that but a loose chip might be hard to find.

I've only found a couple CMC42 boards so far, no 50's :(

I do have some JGP kits that I'm selling, which has the CMC 50. It's probably cheaper than trying to source one of the other games.

Don't give up yet - I have more part boxes to go through. I know I've pulled a couple 50's before, I just don't know what I did with them...

I found one of the boards with a CMC50 last night. Do you still need it?
