AES Collecting...the feeling you get...

I was SO AGAINST AES collecting...

I recently traded off my MVS collection and got into AES...

I had over 60 games for MVS including the whole Slug series and some other rare ones!

When I got my ORIGINAL Metal Slug in the mail today a very weird feeling came over me, its very hard to explain...Its just something you don't get with MVS...I am in a state of happiness right now that I can't explain! Its like "Wow! I have an ORIGINAL Metal Slug in MINT condition!"

I also bought MS2 and 3 and I'm waiting for X...

To all the MVS gamers out there...If your just about the games, stick with your current platform, but if you want something more valuable and exciting I suggest you switch to AES! Its a great feeling...I really don't feel bad at all that I spent $1,200 on a game...I'm very happy I did!

Just wanted to share my feeling of happiness with you all....

Fuck you Dion!

Holy shit!!!! Sorry... I just would never get away with spending $1,200 for Metal Slug... my friends, girl, family, dog, would check me into some place soft and never let me touch a computer or game again!

Tonk, I totally agree. I don't know what it is, but AES games feel better when you get them. I bought a AES for $150 with 2 games off EBay once and when I recieved it, it felt great. But then I trade the AES system for more mvs carts. Now I am looking to trade my mvs collection for an AES setup. Tonk, how much it Shawn give you for you mvs games (in trade value)?

I know that feeling! But I had to sell my home system resently. Hopefully I will have that feeling again when I finally get a cab. To acually play an arcade in my own home? How sweet that will be.

Hey TonK,

I remember that feeling of owning my 1st Metal Slug. What a great feeling, but you will soon want other games too. For ex., the KofF series and FF/FFRB series.

Tonk,
I feel you on that bud. In general getting Neo home carts is nice. The Packaging, Manuals, Boxes, Inserts. The whole package looks great. It's always been that way for me for awhile now. I still need to get a Slug 1 seeing as I own all the others. I'm a patient person so my time will come. Got all the KoF's, Samurai Shodown's and Fatal Furys so I'm kickin it ok

I agree 100% that Metal Slug is just a game and $1,200 is way too much...but wait 'till you get it and hold it! I got the Japanese version because the art is 100 times better and plus the Jap is more rare...Joe, two things...I'm stealing the SNK banner for my site and Shawn might work out a deal with you...Shawn and I have been talking about me getting into AES for a while and I'm VERY happy I did! Granted, I LOVED the fact that I had 60 Neo-Geo MVS titles! But now my 2 AES titles are worth more than all 60 of my carts...MVS gave me a chance to try out a lot of games...I'm buying the ones I liked back on AES and then I'm buying all of em! I'm going to have the WHOLE Slug series on AES by the end of next week...What a feeling that is! I bought a sealed SS2 (Samurai Spirits 2) for $50...that is my favorite fighter on the Neo...and I'm bidding on Carlson's League Bowling on ebay (That game is just too much fun) Trust me Joe, AES is the way to go...I would'nt trade my collection away for EVERY MVS title! Its just a great feeling...I'm also Going ALL Jap on the AES! Art is awesome! Plus Mr. Kurtz is doing a SuperMod on my AES! I play the games in FULL English with red blood and fat bouncing tits

O.K. my rant is over

Congrats man. Glad you can now experience the Neo in its home format. And most importantly, play the games and have fun!

It is sure that with the hole between the price of the games there is no choice if you want to have the newest game but personnally my aim is not the obtain the last games of AES. Some older one are still great(SS,AOF2,soccer brawl)

Well I get just as exited when I get a $35 NGM Gururin a $15 Quiz King of fighters NGCD or a $270 Metal Slug NGH then anything else. so to me it really does not matter which system I get it for. I like the art for the NGM carts just as much as I like the manuals, box and insert of any NGH I get.

Hell I was very happy when I got my convertor for my NHS and the VFG Shaia resin. I will not even go into posters and other things I buy.

Really anything most anything Neo does it for me. However when it comes to the higher priced NGH carts it always comes down to do I want to spend the money on this one Neo thing or several other neo things. When it comes down to that I always choose the several other.

But that is just me.

You're right BRANDI.
I've used my CD system for months and now I'm getting my cartrige system in ten days, but I can feel a very special magic since the same day I ordered it.
I've also ordered the Metal Slug 3 AES re-edition and I don't mind at all paying 268$ for it. And thinking that some months ago I believed that I was crazy for paying 100$ for a game... (I paid that for the Turbo Duo Dracula X)
Neo Geo has changed me...

Tonk,

You seem to go from one extreme to another. Your thoughts on games, formats, and what and who is cool change from day to day based on other posts i've read on this board. This is all fine and dandy assuming you, like few others, can afford it. You must have wealthy parents to support your "habit". If not I sincerely hope for your own health you didn't miss rent or other bills for the sake of one AES cart.

You say you really don't feel bad about spending $1200 on ONE game, but the fact that you are posting the intimate details of your purchase here signifies to me and maybe others as well that you are once again insecure about your decision and are looking for the validation of others to relieve your uneasiness.

As good as Metal Slug 1 is, no game will ever be worth that kind of money. Think of what you can do with $1,200. The possibilities are so much greater than one game. Ask yourself if you bought the game for the "elite status" or the game itself. Your post speaks for itself. If this seems harsh, realize it is just my thoughts based on what i've seen written by you on this board.

But then again, if you can afford $1,200 for one game and really wanted it then YOU GO GIRLFRIEND!!!

I wouldnt say that $1200 is worth spending for one game when the sequals are better,he also had the game on mvs,so he couldnt have bought it cos he wanted the game,he must have bought it for some sort of feeling he must get with owning an expensive rare game.
he has sold his mvs stuff so that is probably paying for it,he also stated if you look at his other posts that he only wants a few games on home cart,so instead of owning
a mvs with a load of games that are only worth what he paid but doesnt play them, hes swaped that for a valuable system with the games he wants to play, from his point of view its worth it.
I personaly would not pay that much for a game, although cos im in britain $1200 isnt that much: its about £800,thats what it would cost me but thats a months wages for a game..... er no thanks not sure its worth that much to me.
So either he is mad or has the money to burn
i expect its the latter.

Way to be a party-pooper guys. Let TonK enjoy his Metal Slug. Whether or not you think MS is worth $1200 is totally irrelevant here.

TonK, nice going! I totally understand the feeling you get from AES vs MVS. For instance, I would rather play MVS-only titles like Ganryu on my AES with an adaptor instead of the 2-slot/SuperNova.

I just started this past few weeks on collecting neo AES titles.

So far the bug has made me buy these:

Last Blade 2
Shock Troopers 2
Art of Fighting 2
Samurai Shodown 1 and 3
Fatal Fury 2 and Special
SuperSide Kicks 2
King of the Monsters 2

All in the last few weeks!

And TONK, I am all about only Japanese carts so if you help me with leads, I can do the same for you.

I NEED TO PACE MYSELF!! ONE A MONTH SHOULD BE ENOUGH!! DO YOU HEAR THAT STUPID NEO BUG??!!

Congratulations Tonk. Doesn't if feel sweet holding the AUTHENTIC, HOME CART in your hand. Collecting is definetely addicting. When I first got my mint copy of MotW english, and was told that the package was sitting in my room, I was in total euphoria. Opening it up and revealing the yellow insert with Rock and Terry's face staring out along with the Kim brothers and B. jenet made me cry. I held it up and exclaimed - I have MotW - just kidding, didn't really do that but felt like it
