Compare these CD games played on a non-CDZ system to a Sega Saturn or Playstation. Are any of them on equal footing?

Samurai Spirits
Samurai Spirits 2
Fatal Fury Special

Games I will avoid KOF99, LB, and LB2

I didn't originally intend to buy the Neo-CD for fighting games. But if these games load as quick as a PSX or Saturn and don't lose as many frames then why not?

Thank you!

Don't know how to compare it with a Saturn or PlayStation, but the loading for Samurai Spirits 1 and 2 isn't that bad.

As a general rule, for 1-on-1 fighting games, loading isn't too horrible. (But I guess LB2 is the exception.)

I'd say go for it with those 3 games. Loading is bearable for SS1 and 2. (I own both.)

Most of the older games, And none fighting games (Save Metal Slugs) load almost instantly.

It's the newer fighters that take forever to load, Especially KOF games.

If you can stand the wait tho it's still a good machine to play fighters on

i once bought kof95 on ps and it was terrible! it would load and skip mid round. the only other system other than dc that i would get snk games on is saturn. rbff special, metal slug, and kof97 on saturn are excellent

I agree. A good friend of mine owns the Saturn version of Metal Slug. Though it still kicked a whole lotta ass (a lot more than the dismal PSX version), it still pales to the Neo, at least for the cart and MVS versions, I can't say anything about the CD version.

Ahhh my Saturn.. how it brought me my SNK games when I had no Neo Geo... great ports for the most part as I have said before, only the sound quality was bad - voice in some games seemed to have been sped up or too low - good ports still though.

Idea...

Would using a 'dummy file' (like people use in dreamcast pirated games) help on loading NGCD games?

I mean, you get your original disc, make a backup of it on your hard drive, crack it, add a dummy file, throw all the important files to the outer area of the disc, ta-da, should read quite faster... or am I wrong? AFAIK, outer areas of cds usually load faster than the inner area (where original discs have their data kept...)

Just an idea... :P

Doubtful. You can't increase the speed of this drive by writing the CD differently.

BTW, what do you mean by "crack it"? There is no protection on the CDs, you can burn them till the cows come home and play the copies . . . hehe.
