I'm using KD-VTCA3 with XRGB2 to get component out to my hdtv. KD-VTCA3 is working with 6v 2.5a psu. I'm powering xrgb 12v from jamma psu and transoder from original 6v adapter. I wonder if it is safe to power xrgb 12v and component transcoder with 5v from jamma psu at the same time?

Bump

Is using DC-DC regulator on 12v out from Jamma psu is good idea? Psu I'm using offer 12v 4a, 5v 16a and -5v 1a. Its powering my supergun, game board and xrgb together without problem.

Open it up and then look up the specs on the voltage regulator. It will probably work with a 5V input, but you may need to swap it for a low dropout regulator.

Well here is the inside picture, sorry about bad camera quality. All the chips are scraped, big capacitor is 10v 1000uf, I measured 5.7v on two 16 pin chips on the right and 3.3v on three 14 pin chips on the left. The regulator near to big capacitor I measured 3.3v on pin2 and 6.1v on pin3 so I belive its a 6v to 3.3v regulator. I suspect maybe changing big 10v cap to a 12v would be required but I'm not sure, Thats above my limits about electronics.

A lot of LV devices will run from 2.7-3.6V....try using 5V input and see what the regulator spits out.

I tested vga passthrough with 5v connected and it works fine, I will test component out as soon as I bring them to my living room to try with my led tv. Thanks.
