Hi all

After playing around with MAME for quite a while i've decided i owe it to myself to get the real thing. So after scanning the web for a day or so i feel i have a pretty good idea of what i want, an aes system.
So these are my questions:
Has anyone here got any experience with a company called Buy-Rite? I was looking at this offer in particular: http://www.buyritegames.com/product_information.asp?number=NG-SYSCART&back=yes&dept=1122&last=1016
Is this expensive? What's a fair price for an aes?
Any mods i should consider getting right away? (What's the deal with the mono/stereo sound?)
Any other advice for a first time buyer would be much appreciated.

(btw, if that link violates any rules please let me know)

Thanks in advance

Stay away from BuyRite at all costs. They are know to be way over priced. You can get that exact same package from www.mad-gear.com for a lot less money. 16-bit has a boxed system for $270 and the Metal Slug 3 game for $230 and a memory card for $25. That is $525 as opposed to their $600 that they are asking. Also, they are known for their slow shipping. 16-bit ships much faster. I have dealt with him personally and he is top notch. :)

By the way, Jeff Kurtz does the mods that you want. Just send him a line. Ask the others for his address, they will tell you.

These are SNK AES decks that have been modified to include s-video and stereo jacks on the rear. More often than not they also include the de-bug bios chip - a chip that allows you to access the MVS menus from your AES cart and thus unlock different features and 'secrets'.

The modifications are done primarily for the US market as US TV's don't cary RGB scart sockets like European sets do. Therefore for the European market they're rather unneccessary. The debug chip is quite useful, so it maybe worth buying a normal AES deck and getting the debug chip fitted.

Seeing as you can get an RGB scart lead for about 20 Euros the extra cost for paying for a 'super' or 'ultra' AES isn't worth it.

IF you're gonna go for it, you may as well get the best! Go for the Super Neo, or atleast a modded one.
