I've read at various places that Japan's arcades were 5~10 years behind US arcades in terms of their decline. In the US, it seems like the last time of glory for arcade was 1993~96. With those who are knowledgable of the Japanese arcade scene, what year/few years do they think was the last heyday before the decline? It might be easier to mark the fall of arcades with the kind of reception SNK's games got, from the late Neo Geo to the Atomiswave to the Taito Type X. I know at some point in the early '00s, Capcom publically pulled out of arcades to focus on consoles.
