Slice, get:

SNK vs CAPCOM
SS2
LB2
Both Metal Slug games

I figure anybody will love those games for sure... so you wouldn't have to think twice before purchasing those. My favorite game on the pocket currently is Ganbare Neopoke Kun... I dont know if the game would fit most people's taste though.

Add Card Fighters Clash and Magical Drop to what everyone else said! Those 2 have to be the most addicting games for the system.

Ganbare is great, It's basically a V.Pet with 30 sub games based on classic arcade machines. Everthing from Galaxian, Shinobi, Star wars arcade and many more. All twisted with a little humour! Genius! If you can get it, then do!
As for normal games, not already mentioned, try Turf masters or Dark arms>

Metal Slug..

I don't know about anyone else on these boards but I'm really digging, "Dive Alert" It's pretty cool. Currently, I'm playing the "Becky Version"

The story itself is a cross between, "Waterworld", "Area 88" and "Starblazers"

Becky is one of the last surviving humans on Earth. Her only companion on her mission is her computer AI system (Which you can pick at the start of the game) Her goal is to gather enough android kills to get into the promised land.

The gameplay is a little slow, but I recomend it highly :)

Because, since these titles does not support Eng language. I don't have the LB so I can't be too sure. But I do know that Gals Fighter for Jap does not have Eng options--I guess it's to cut the cost down--so Jap ver. of LB probably does not not have Eng options either. Feel free to correct me in that.

My favs would be:

-Card Fighters Clash (both ver. if you can spare the cash)
-Magical Drop
-SNK vs Capcom
-MS 1 & 2
-Magical Drop
-KOF R 1 & 2
-Ogre Battle (If you are good in Jap, pick up a copy. Beats Faseli and rest of the RPGs hands down in my opinion)

Truth to tell, most NGCP games are fairly decent--I didn't much like the Casino games (like Neo 21, or what not) nor Pachinko games, though.

Master Terry:

You are correct. Gals Fighters, Faselei and Last Blade do not play in english if you get the Japanese versions, even if your neo pocket is set to work in english mode. Last Blade and Faselei only came out in english in the UK, I believe. There IS a domestic US version of Gals Fighters out there, but I don't think it came out in very high quantities.

Taiso,

You are right on both accounts.

he's broke already and you want him to buy all NGPC collection? He'll probably sell everything he has and stands in the corner of street holding a sign saying "Work for Neo Geo".

Everyone who posted in this thread seems to have most of the "essentials" covered, but I couldn't help but notice that one of my favorites for the system has went unmentioned. If you're a die-hard shooter aficionado such as myself, be sure and grab "Cotton: Fantastic night Dreams". It's the systems only "true" horizontally scrolling shooter, and not a bad one at that. Since Cotton didn't receive a domestic "US" release, expect it to be a bit more difficult to pin down than some of the more typical NGPC titles.

I think shooters aren't really great on a handheld. It's to frustrating to try to avoid the bullets on such a small screen. It's the same problem with all shooters on handhelds.

I don't think its frustrating, first the Metal Slugs on the NGPC have (allot) less enemies than the origional Metal Slugs on the Home system, which makes it easier to follow the movements on the screen. The only game which I had some problems with was sonic. Sometimes when you pick up the special run shoes you go so fast that its hard to keep up with. All in all SNK did a good work

Ok here are the 5 games that every ngpc owner should have:

1. Card fighters clash
2. Snk vs Capcom (MOTM)
3. Metal Slug 2nd mission
4. Faselei!
5. Cotton

Card fighters clash is the most addictive handheld game ive ever played. Its even better when u hook up with another player Snk vs Capcom is the best fighter ever for a handheld and when linked up with the dreamcast provides countless hours of fun. Metal slug 2nd mission plays true to the series and even includes speech! ("heavy machine gun!") Faselei is the best and one of the few RPG's on the NGPC, yet the english version is rare As for cotton it is a very enjoyable shooter with decent graphics and brings back the nostalgia.
