Its an awsome game! Yup, just like the SNES vers. (Exept, no mode 7 and the music isn't as good) Its still a cool game! (Takes place before March of the Black Queen)
Very nice battle animations, cool spells, link-up against another person and fight or trade units/items. Lots of hidden places/items/characters. Not as long as I thought it was going to be...But, a wonderful game, never the less. Text in Japanese only, if you've played the SNES OB, you shouldn't have much trouble gameplay wise, gonna miss-out on the story though, and ppl ask you questions sometimes (but, this mostly affects your reputation.).

Densetsu no Ogre Battle Gaiden is the story about Tristan and Kein. I actually don't remember fighting any ogres or demons in this one, orther than Valhal or whatever his name was at the end, where Tristan claims that Valhal belonged to another world - which I assumed was the world of the dead.

The fact he fights with a starting HP of 900 (and my characters were at about 250), and has two Arc Samurai with him. And the Arc Samurai is one of the most power frontline characters in the game. I'm talking 100+ damage

I used love and peace on Valhal's team to steal a could of the arc samurai from him, and they each cost something like 7000 to deploy. Ouch.

Well, anyhow, I should try to win with a higher chaos frame sometime. My main team had Kiros in it (the extremely vicious wear tiger, as he's known), and I guess that dragged down my over all alignment. There were many cool characters.

Still trying to wonder who Olonf really was. Why he left my team, even though I still had Candy, the Archer, in it. He appears with Valhal in the end, and I thought for a second that he was Valhal.

I really love the Ogre Battle Saga. So much that I own 2 copies of this game, and both the Japanese and English versions of Ogre Tactics Gaiden on the GBA (you can actually fight and trade items with different US and Japanese regions). All I need is a mint Ogre Battle MotBQ on the SNES, and I'll have the complete collection (I have the SNES MotBQ, but it's in shit condition).

One thing that would be interesting to find out is if there is a Fireseal in this game... heh heh.

How would you rank the N64 version in your collection...top five?...

huh, top 5? You mean including ports and such or something. Out of the five stories that I have played, OB64 is right smack in the middle at 3. I rank MotBQ last because I just didn't like the gameplay that much. And of course the whole reason I got into the Ogre Saga was because I read that TO and FF Tactics had some of the same staff. This may be a lousy reason to get into the Ogre Saga, but I guess I'm one of many that used to buy a Square RPG before looking at what other companies had to offer.
