Is this a boot or not? A couple of the chips look strange, so I dont know.

Thanks for any help

If not a boot, at least a repair.

Looks like a repair.

The stuff on the two eproms looks like paper and tape.

Should I bother trying to get it or get another one?

That all depends on the buyer.

Boot carts are worthless.

But, repaired carts have some value in them. But, the repair has to look factory (neat), and the game has to work great. Just how much value, well, that all depends on the buyer.

I might pass it up then, thanks for the help

The two P roms have been replaced. It might be a rare speed hack version with less slowdown... Maybe, haha.

The other chips look fine, even with small pictures. I say it's a repair.

I bought this cart, so I'll let you know once it shows up. From the photos I figured it was a repair, as the rest of both boards matched the scans. I just wanted one of the Metal Slug games to play on my MVS setup, and the price was right.

If you have a UniBIOS, let us know if the checksum is different. Or better yet, if there's any differences in the game's slowdown. :)

I don't have a unibios but I'd like to upgrade in the near future. I'll keep an eye out for slowdown though, does that happen with this title just in general, or are there specific levels/areas that are much worse?

Eh...it's more of a matter of how much action is on screen. More enemies and bullets = slower.

It's pretty easy to tell. On mission 1, just walk forward towards those arabians. If the game slows down to a crawl, then it's the same as every other MS2 cart.

Got the cart today, plays great. Just a normal repaired MS2 though, the slowdown on the 1st level looked just like YouTube videos I found.

Oh well, was worth a try at least. Have fun with the game though, it's awesome.
