Hopefully this is the right section to put this in.

I got a pretty beat up 1 slot PCB off eBay for $20 bucks awhile ago and decided to consolize it. It's plastic was a bit scuffed up and it had a tiny hole drilled in the top of the plastic. The PCB also came with a Universal Bios (free version). The encoder I ended up using was a JROK I already had on hand. This system was my very first CMVS however I went back recently and made it look nicer. Well anyway I managed to clean it up a good deal and here are the results!

Can't beat $20! I like the frosted base too (cutting board?) -- IMO that's where the lights should be shining. :D

The location of the audio jacks is very perplexing... But very clean job otherwise. I hope my CMVS systems turn out as nice...

Yup its a cutting board I got at some kitchen store for $20 bucks. It was big enough to use for this CMVS and a two slot I still have in the works (i got the two slot for $30 two weeks ago). This thing feels like its built like a tank with this thick cutting board base. I might put LED's underneath the 2 slot if I can do it and make it look nice.

Originally when I first consolized it I only had S-Video on it so I just spaced the RCA and S-Video jacks out. When I went back to clean it up and add component I did not have the space to put three more of those larger RCA jacks and ended up having to put them on the opposite side of the audio ones. Its not optimal but I prefer it over trying to squish them together. If I could go back and redo it I would use smaller RCA jacks, negate s-video, and put them all on the same side

Not related, but is your user name referencing Regular Show? If so, awesome!

Ha, actually it was just the name of one of my characters from Warcraft. I got so used to people calling me Skips from the game I started using it as my online alias as well. Someone asked me that same question a year ago and my response was, "What is the Regular Show"? I had to Google it when he asked.

I freakin love Regular show. All the 80's referances plus the game console they always are playing is a Sega Master System.

Great first attempt.

Thank you! I used your guide on JNX. I also used your 2 slot guide to get going on an MV2 board I am consolizing. That one is on hold though until the cover comes back from the duracoat specialist. It cost me 25 bucks but its a super scratch resistant paint job, it is designed for refinishing firearms after all.

By the way thank you for posting all those guides on JNX. They allow newcomers and amateurs like me to build a CMVS very easily. JNX has been an invaluable resource for anything neo-geo related. Oddly enough I ran across the site while gathering all the information I needed to get going on RGB Modding NES systems. I saw the tutorials and thought to myself, hey I can do that! I saved a ton of money doing these things myself. I have had a big red 4 slot cab for years but I still enjoy the CMVS with a Neo-Geo CD controller more. Also after seeing how little it actually costs to build a CMVS (if you wait for a good deal on an MVS PCB that is) I kinda wonder why there is a dude on ebay that constantly charges so much for these things. It took longer to cut the base and build the LED lighting array than it did to consolized the MV1F itself. I saw a full sized MV1 consolized system by him on ebay for $400 the other day. Seems a bit excessive for something without a base and the factory power LED being advertised as a "feature"

No problem dude. I'm glad it was helpful with your project. If you need any other tutorials let me know. I sometimes have tutorials on the backburner and never publish them.
