Hello all you pocket fans...

It's my understanding that the NGPC was originally released through mail order in the USA, and that the original mail order games were all in color and came in plastic clam shell cases. Is this true? It is also mu understanding that when the NGPC went retail, all the boxes went cardboard. Is this true as well? Can anyone tell me what American games were available in the clam shell case?

Any help would be appreciated! I won't even make fun of your ears... :( <img src="graemlins/help.gif" border="0" alt="[Help]" />

As far as I know, there were no USA clamshell NGPC games released...But, I could be wrong...could be...
Alot of the JP NGPC games were in cardboard boxes also...
Like my Ogre Battle...

Mail-order? Hmmm....Perhaps to a small group of people, maybe...

No, no... I own several clamshell games that are clearly American (they have the rating system on them) and differ from their UK counterparts.

Anyone else?

There somewhat a story behind the cases. They were defenately available as mail order, but when it was sold publicly (EB, Toys R Us) the store chains complained about them taking up too much room.

Doesn't make sense, there is not that much diffence, but anyway, SNK changed the cases to comply with the stores and that's why there aren't too many calm US cases.

There are a few, but mostly on stuff that was released, earlier on.

I actually bought this through the mail order you speak of. Sadly I was forced to sell them to fund my MVS fund but like MatMann said I think they were the Asian version. But since I bought mine from E-Toys they felt the need to place a ESRB rating sticker on the insert of the games. Man was i Pissed. <img src="graemlins/blowtop.gif" border="0" alt="[Blow Top]" />

Alll the launch games were avail in clamshell thru SNKUSA later on they releasedMS and FF in clamshell.THe reasen the changed the boxes is not because the retailes where complaining but because it was more cost effective (the Amercan way :)

My BIG question...

Can anyone tell me what US games actually came in the clamshell? Which were initially available through mail order? HELP!

Well its goanna be hard finding clamshell games unless you import them or know were to find them. Like my metal slug, It came tainted by the ESRB and not a clamshell box. (x.x) But I went to this store which only imports and I got kof r2 aisan release w/clamshell.
So otheriwse import or look for them. You wont find many US clamshells any more.

I could have swore there was an initial batch of US NGPC games that came out with the clamshell case 'cuz I remember being miffed that when the system was officially sold at the game store I work at, the games all came in cardboard cases.

Been so long ago though.

I've collected many NGPC games, (Had about 5 collections) and I never got a US Clamshell, only Clamshell I ever got was Metal Slug 1st Mission (PAL). I had almost all the games I wanted...((Poses and wind blows))...Except....Faselei...((Screen Goes Black and Fin)).
