Okay, here's a poser. How can you tell for definate that a UK/Euro clamshell game is New?!

I have only ever seen a couple of copies that were sealed and most (nearly all?) are sold without wrapping on.

You can tell by the condition...... maybe, but not conclusive.
There are two wear marks down the back of the game..... well, this is the one i am not sure about, i have picked up new games in the past with these marks on, i presume for testing, but as yet, i have never seen one without these marks in some form. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? <img src="graemlins/spock.gif" border="0" alt="[Spock]" />

inside the clear plastic case are 2 raised plastic runners when the cartdridge is inside the case it rubs on these runners and when you look closely at the cart it looks as though it has been inserted in and out of the neo pocket and therefore looks used hope this helps i take it is the marks on the back of the cart you are going on about

Thanks Rudekid, but i don't think that prove Newness (?).

I have just opened a sealed game from Japan and the marks are still on the back, so presume that they must be tested before they are put in the boxes. It is definately NEW but still has the mark, all be it slightly faded.

As UK/Euro Clamshell cases were not sealed generally, it still fronts the question of proof.

Can anyone else confirm or deny this?

I've bought a few hardcase games, and most of them did have the marks on the back.

The games were new from an online store. Same with one game I got shipped from Japan. It had a wrapper over the box, but the cart had a few marks.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. It could be from testing before the games were packaged and shipped.

You just ever know.

these plastic strips on the back of the cart do not come in contact when inserted into a neo pocket

Manufacturing defect????????????

I still don't see why it should be a problem. The games work, at least mine do.

I am not saying it is a problem. I sell these games new and i have had a couple of people quiry me as to my honesty, stating that there are marks on the Strips.

I was just trying to find out if all other
games have the same thing, and it appears they do.

As the UK Clamshell game were not sealed (a few were), i have to be sure that they are new. However, the cases are unmarked and the instruction are flat (if you know what i mean), so i guess they are new.

Just to answer Rudekid, yes it is the marks on the two strips at the back of the cart.

Strange stuff.... it must be to do with testing or the way they are made.

yes but the two little plastic strips inside the
case rub up against the back of the cart and with the plastic on the case being softer than the cart you are going to get marking on the cart from the inner box most of my games are brand new exshop stock and i have just checked all have the markings on them

Right, i had never even though of looking in the case!

So i assume that the rubbing will occur whatever, as the cart are slightly loose in the case and the marking occur during transport, or even just moving the Game! That must be it, well noted mate.

At least i have a good explanation for the markings now! :D

Only a couple of people, one did a neutral feedback stating that the game was not new. Such is life, at least i can defend myself in the future.

It is just that i have got quite a few new copies in and checking all of them noticed that none were completely mark free. Hence the question, i guess people will just have to take my word for it.

They still look fresh and new anyway! :D

As long as the games are in mint condition who cares about the little marks down the sliders? These little buggers are the most robust carts ever! Not only that but they also come in the best packaging ever too! I only wish they'd made clear clip-cases for the snap-lock AES carts.

As long as the damage isn't too great you have nothing to worry about. Even hard-ass-core collectors who never play their games shouldn't find any problems with the marks.

Long live the Pocket!!
