im thinking of getting a neo geo pocket color today and i am just wondering what do you guys perfer gba or ngpc. Also does the ngpc have a screen like the gba(have to put it at an angle to see well). Also is it worth buying even though there aren't going to be anymore new games? My last question, does anybody know where i can purchase that flash linker thingy.

I would say that the screen is pretty dark itself, but is definitely easier to see than GBA. If you get it now, you can enjoy some of the best games ever released for a handheld system. KoFs, Slugs, Card Fighters, etc.

And those flash linker, try eBay or maybe www.lik-sang.com . I promise you that you won't be dissapointed if you actually go on and get yourself an NGPC. I have done so myself, and very satisfied with it (I even bought more than 4 systems :D ).

I rate the NGPC higher than the GBA as it was released several years ago and it still has the beating of the GBA. The greatest advantage of the NGPC is that as long as you look after it, it will gain in value.... whereas the GBA..... maybe in about 10 years, if ya lucky.

You would have thought that Nintendo would have put more thought into their system!

You can pick up a linker on EBay or there is a link below......

I have just got a sega nomad though...... impressive bit of kit, even if the one i have is a bit beat up...... :D

I have to get the games from the US, but there is a massive range, and the screen is back lit.

I'll have to give the nomad a try. I've heard good things. Sounds like a system ahead of its time.
Maybe I'll have to diversify.

If you like the Megadrive games then indeed you should. I am very impressed, although it will cost you about £80-£100 to get a good condition one.

Personally, mine is battered and needs the Brightness switch sorting (i can't get into it at the moment), so i am having to use tin foil as a brightness control. Anyone got one of those outside star crew thingies.....

I tell ya, you should go for it, i recon its worth the money!

Although, for collection and games purposes the NGPC wins hands down!..... and getting back to the question! :D

i was lucky enough to get a 50/60hz switched sega nomad from CEX for the bargain price of £60-boxed!!! it's by far the best handheld avaliable, you can get classic games for as little as £1-2 and the control set-up is the best ever.

(on topic) the NGPC wipes the floor with the GBA, the NGPC offers games you can't get anywhere else (all GBA offers is lame snes ports, and uninspired rip-off's of snes games) , has a far more reflective screen, and the battery usage is a lot longer.

NGPC has the best handheld controller for fighting games. GBA joypad is almost exactly the same as the D-Pad on the gamecube controller.

Definitely get Match of the Millenium, IMO it's superior to any Capcom vs SNK offerings on the Dreamcast, and most other fighting games on any system, console or handheld!

Also, the batteries will last around 24 hours of continuous play!

Well when you put the NGPC up against the GBA.. then personally I prefer playing the GBA. It's got a very large and rapidly growing game library, tons of great converted SNES games, and shows hopes to be the first 3D handheld. Have you all seen the AGB videos? They're amazing, and if you ask me they are very close to the PSX 3D wise. The only real thing the GBA has working against it is the screen.. it's really that bad.. believe the hype. :)

Check out this url for a few AGB clips:

Hardware wise the NGPC was made to compete with the GBC not the GBA. So when I say I prefer the GBA to the NGPC it's not necessarily because the GBA is just plain better. I think the NGPC is damn great, but I also think should be compared to the GBC and not the GBA. I never owned a GBC because it always looked pretty dumb (hint: this is when pokemon was at it's height), but I saw the NGPC and had to have it. The games it has are truely great, it's just too bad it's game library is so limited.. :(
