I have heard people saying that these games are fakes and not the real deal.

Can anybody tell me what the situation is?

I'm not sure, but I do know it would be hard to tell. Because of the way these games were built they are all eraseable and re-writeable. This simply means you can put a game that was modified or made up onto a real cartridge. Though I'll be getting one of these these games shortly I'll let you guys know

As far as I know, NGPC official games are NOT rewritable. I did try.

I heard somewhere that they used flash memory of some sort. Didn't snk of japan rewrite alot of the games they recalled from america?

The cart only games that are hitting the scene are not fake, but rather the remaining stocks that should have been destined for the USA.
Thats why a lot are the unreleased titles that we already have in 'UK' format.

Its a shame that Aruze didnt print some manuals and boxes for them, even if they'd done them like the re-packaged NGPCs or 'Big Fireworks'.

So they are legit, but just incomplete.

I just got one today, and the Game I bought, (Metal Slug 1,) wasn't fake. But that's just one game, and I cant comment on the rest.

Is there anything to worry about in something being fake other than its not "official"? Will my game crap up and stop working or not last as long or something? Or is it just something that nit pickers would get concerned about and no one else?

I got a genuine Faselei! this morning (not off eBay, but the same stocks, the guy has heaps of unboxed cart-only games). I agree with Metal Slug on this, they're most likely to be the leftover stock from SNK's demise, just without manuals or boxes. The carts should't be rewritable btw, but I can't check it because it's a custom chip used. I'll make up an adaptor for an EPROM burner at some stage and dump all my carts, then see if they are erasable - I'd put money on this being impossible however.

These remaindered stocks are a good thing...well, I would say that since my Hyper Neo came on Tuesday :D

they are legit carts.

There will not be many left after the Ebay rush.
I have said it before, I believe thesse carts will go up in value. There are really not that many.... there are just a lot at one time.
